Casa Rosa is our favourite holiday destination and we have visited this agriturimo many times. Gay is absolutely delightful and always welcomes us with great warmth to her lovely home. It is the perfect place when you want to enjoy a tranquil and relaxing holiday. The house is situated most beautifully, the surroundings are wonderfully quiet. The apartments have all been decorated by Gay and each has its individual style. This individual touch makes Casa Rosa far more special than any other agriturismo we have visited. The garden is calm and even when all apartments have been booked, it is easy to find a quiet spot. The view from the swimming pool is stunning and a fantastic place to sit in the evenings. The immediate area around Casa Rosa offers plenty of opportunities to go for lovely walks. Whenever you like to out to do some sight-seeing, shopping etc, you do not have to go far. There are so many interesting places (Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, Perugia) to visit and Casa Rosa forms a perfect base.
We cannot imagine anyone not wanting to go (back) to Casa Rosa!

Room tip: Lorenzetti has the morning (and all day) sun. Masolino has the evening (and all day) sun. Cimabue is (a little) away from the main house.

We had such a wonderful holiday at Casa Rosa and wished we could have stayed longer. We all want to return so that we can enjoy more of the spectacular countryside and peacefullness of Casa Rosa. We enjoyed our meals from the freezer (!) and Giovannino's, and had a good time exploring the back roads and medieval towns. Casa Rosa is close to so many places of interest which we visited but we often enjoyed long breaks on the terrace of our unit gazing at the beautiful scenery! Our many thanks to Gay for welcoming us so warmly and and for being such a treasure! Kathy, Adrian and son Ryan.

I found this place on the internet and hoped it would live up to its description and photos, which it did in every way. It is a converted farmhouse, situated about 10 kms out of Assisi. The house is converted into 3 apartments. The top floor has 2 bedrooms while the ground floor has been converted into 2 single bedroom flats. Ours was on the ground floor and had a little terrace overlooking the lavender garden with a little fountain at the end. It is fairly basic but has everything you need to be completely self catering if that’s what you want. It had a small fridge, 4 burner stove top, oven and microwave. It has no TV (a blessing) no radio, no AC (although we were willingly provided with fans). But there was free wi fi throughout.

The area abounds with wonderful sites and towns to visit which we would do during the day. Evenings though we would stay at home as it was too beautiful to go out, sitting on the terrace listening to the crickets and night sounds. You don’t necessarily have to cook. In the freezer is a selection of frozen meals prepared by a local chef. You select what you want out of the freezer and leave your money in a jar. The same goes for a selection of wines and beer. All completely on an honour system. Also you can hire Alessandro, a delightful local young man who loves cooking, to come into your apartment and prepare a 3 course meal, serve it with wine included, and wash and clear up all for an amazing E60 for 2. There were even enough leftovers for the following night.
The other highlight was Gay, the owner of Casa Rosa. She is English by birth but has lived in Italy for over 30 years. She makes you feel so welcome and almost a family member. She is generous, kind hearted and full of information about things to see and do.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Casa Rosa as a place of refuge in a busy world.

Of all the places we stayed throughout the world, this was by far the loveliest, most beautifully located and welcoming of all.
Our lovely host Jennifer made us feel at home and comfortable and gave us very nice tips on outings and delicious restaurants in the surroundings.
The apartments (we stayed both in Giotto and Lorenzetti) were very well-equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated thanks to Jennifer's painting talent. Everything was there to make our stay perfectly comfortable.
The little farm is surrounded by beautiful hills, it is very peaceful and has great views over the valley. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained.
We loved the place so much that we actually returned there during our stay in Italy instead of staying in Tuscany as we had initially planned. We enjoyed long breakfasts in the sunny and peaceful mornings, lazy afternoons by the pool with its stunning views over the valley and lazy evenings on the terrace, listening to the cuckoo.
In short, we cannot wait to come back!

We have just returned to a rainy England from a wonderful week at Casa Rosa. Assisi was buzzing with the annual Festa di Calendimaggio - a medieval carnival of mammoth proportions, so returning to Casa Rosa was a real tonic to the mind and body!

Our home for the week was Apartment Giotto - beautifully decorated with Jennifer's (the hostess and resident artist) paintings and painted furniture - would love to have taken a few pieces back in my luggage! All that you need for a relaxing holiday is here, including plenty of prosecco and local wine which you can buy, together with delicious homemade Italian meals just incase you're so relaxed you don't have the energy to cook or go out to one of the local restaurants!

Casa Rosa despite being a short drive away from Assisi is certainly far from the madding crowd. Surrounded by the beautiful Umbrian hills, every room really does have a stunning view. Take a walk around the garden and grounds and you'll find yourself plenty of quiet, sunny and shady spots to read your book, have a drink or just admire the wildlife and listen to the cuckoo. The pool is a joy to swim in and there is a BBQ area with thyme, rosemary and garlic growing, just waiting to be used! And if you're really energetic there are plenty of walks to go on, all maps drawn out by Jennifer, there is even a hidden yurt in the wood.

It really was the perfect place to unwind and we can't wait to come back next year for our Umbrian fix (and hopefully to catch a glimpse of the elusive wild boar!)
