We spent 2 weeks at the beautiful Casa Rosa and loved every minute of it. The villa is a heavenly spot: utterly quiet, surrounded by green fields, olive groves and hills. The apartments are simple and rustic, but comfortable. We spent a lot of time chilling out at base, making simple meals, sitting out on the balcony quaffing local wine and watching the world go by; having a dip in the pool. The owner, Jennifer Worth and her lovely family, are charming, gentle and caring hosts. Jennifer is a fine artist and we very much enjoyed meeting her, though she was in the final stages of cancer and, very sadly, has since died.

Casa Rosa makes a great base from which to explore Assisi and the surrounding district. Assisi, though not a large town, has a huge amount to explore, and the surrounding Umbrian countryside is very beautiful. In August, it was hot, but Casa Rosa provides some relief from the heat, being up in the hills and catching what breeze there is.

It was perhaps our most relaxing holiday ever, partly because we stayed 2 weeks at the one location, which made it feel very spacious, but also because of the quiet beauty of the place itself.

I would hiighly ecommend Casa Rosa to anyone looking for a base from which to explore Assisi and Umbria in general .It is sublime! The setting is so beautiful and peaceful it is almost other-worldly. We quickly settled into a wonderful routine of having our breakfast on our private patio overlooking the valley (we stayed in the old stables Which is now a delightful cottage) Then we'd set out for the day..Assisi is just 15 minutes away and many wonderful Umbrian towns were an easy day-trip from there. Alessandro was a wonderful and attentive host who even came to fetch us the first night since it is a bit difficult to find the first time.
We hope to go back again sometime. It is such a special place!

I arrived late in the evening, so it wasn't until morning when I walked outside of my apartment (1 of only a few units) and was overwhelmed by a profound sense of peace. I've had many wilderness adventures in my life, but they all required driving at least several hours from civilisation. The Casa Rosa farm is just 15 minutes from Assisi, but driving the circuitous road up the nearby mountain achieves a similar sense of remoteness. There are no other signs of civilisation in sight and the only sounds are birds singing, or perhaps the grunting of a wild boar foraging in a nearby meadow at night. Being enveloped in such a serene environment makes it impossible to carry anxiety or tension. There are many walking trails in the area to explore, and the swimming pool offers spectacular views of the valley while cooling off. I highly recommend Casa Rosa even if you only have a few days.
