Simply beautiful! We had the opportunity to stay for a wonderful three days. Alec was the perfect host. We will definitely return for a longer period of time. The grounds/views were exactly as shown on the website; no surprises. Looking fwd to going back. Thank you Alec, and your two doggies.

We just came back home from our three weeks in Italy and we have agreed that we are ready to go back to Bellaugello. From the moment we arrived, gazing out over an almost surreal landscape of the valley with a river winding through, the place inspired a deep calm and happiness . We found Alec to be not only gracious and welcoming, but the kind of person you enjoy getting to know and hope that our paths continue to cross. There was an attention to the design and details in our suite that combined the best of refined and rustic. Alec, thank you. What we will remember is the beauty of the land , great conversations with you and other guests, the dinners you prepared, and discovering Umbria on the small quiet back roads.

Possibly the best place I have stayed, ever. The view from the infinity pool is like watching an oil painting; the rooms (read 'apartments") are furnished and decorated to the highest standard - no expense has been spared; there is a sauna in the woods, spontaneous barbecues with others or private drinks on your own terrace. Alec, the host, is unfailingly helpful, a great cook and does everything to make you feel comfortable. I've been six times already - and it's a long drive from England!

What an incredible adventure to find this renovated Italian Villa at the end of a picturesque Umbrian country road. We were met by the owner, Alec, who treated us like invited guests, prepared delicious meals, provided us with our own immaculate private guest apartment with luxury linens on a huge bed and a deluxe bathroom all with breath taking southern views of the Valdichiascio valley.
The property surpassed our expectations with a phenomenal infinity edge pool, spectacular private grounds, mature fruit trees and a imported 4 person wood Finnish sauna.
Not only would I highly recommend this property I am planning on returning for another visit very soon. Alec is the consummate host and we appreciated all that he did for making such a perfect stay! George and Nick

If you are looking for a special place to stay in the countryside of Umbria, this is it. Nestled in the hills overlooking a vast valley is Bellaugello, a charming inn. Our lovely hosts Alec, Jenny and Milo, attended to every detail. Alec served a sumptuous breakfast each morning and on some evenings, a delicious dinner. He was always full of great suggestions about the local attractions and tasty restaurants. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, it was like staying with friends. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool inviting with breathtaking views.
We stayed in the Specchio Suite, which is peaceful and quiet. A large two room suite complete with living room and kitchen. It has a front entrance patio, complete with a small table and chairs, a great place to share a glass of wine. The views of the hills are remarkable along with the picturesque valley below. In the morning we could see the clouds rise gently, revealing the colorful valley below.
Although this was our first time at Bellaugello, it won't be our last. Thanks for making our stay a very special time.

We've been to Bellaugello twice -- for 10 days in summer 2011, and we went in late October 2012 with a bunch of friends to celebrate my birthday. The place itself is breathtaking -- remote, quiet, extremely well-appointed, tastefully decorated suites (each of them quite different) -- and Alec the owner is brilliant -- discreet but approachable and friendly -- and a wonderful cook (you have the option of booking dinner a few times a week). If you're looking for naughty excitement and playing nude hide-n-seek in the woods, you are unlikely to find what you are looking for (unless you bring it along yourself) -- the place is ideal for relaxing, reading, walking/hiking and lazing by the pool. There are no restaurants or shops anywhere near, so you should have a car. If you like to cook, the kitchens in the suites are well-appointed. Don't worry if you don't look like the guys on the website -- we don't either and the place has very little of the catwalk about it. Bellaugello is between Perugia and Gubbio -- both very beautiful -- and close to Assisi, Spello and a number of other ideal day-trips. Go. You'll love it.

Room Tip: All have outside areas. Garden suite has outside shower and sun the longest. Diva suite is super m...
