You only pay 15 euros a night, which in my mind is a bargain, especially considering I was there during the Umbria Jazz festival. The rooms are spacious and clean. The location is fantastic, the building oozes character, with a stunning view to boot. There is no breakfast but a well-equiped kitchen where you can cook your own meal. No breakfast is actually a plus, because you have a multitude of good "bars" where you can get an excellent cappuccino with cornetto (filled croissant) for 2 euros! (Most breakfasts in Italian hotels are basic, my best breakfasts have always been in a bar)

The only "annoying" thing is that the hostel is closed between 11 am and 4 pm, and if they say closed, they mean closed, you have to be out by 11 am! Which means you can't sleep extremely late, nor can you take an afternoon nap in your room. Now, I was always out during that time, so I didn't mind that much, but it is sometime to take in mind.

15euros a night for a shared room (4) at the busiest time a year (umbria jazz festival). So you dont expect much of it. But Ostello offers a very well organized and nice (basic though) hostel with clean beds and bathroom utilities. You cant be in the hostel between 11 and 4 because that is cleaning time (they sure take that seriously) and be weary not to enter the ladies bathroom as a man because you'll be sure to know it. ;-)
I would recommend this to anyone traveling on a budget visiting perugia or umbria. A great deal.

This hostel is probably the best budget choice in Perugia. Its best assets are location (in the middle of the medieval center near the main square), cleanliness (probably the cleanest hostel I've ever seen), staff (really friendly and funny people) and of course the price, which at 15 euros a night can't be beaten. Not to mention the amazing views from the rooms over the Tiber valley!

Of course, the place is a hostel after all which means dorm rooms (minimum 4 persons, maximum 6; bunk beds) and shared bathrooms. However it is all very clean and the hostel also has a kitchen you can use to cook your own foods, which you can then eat on their roof terrace. The place also has a curfew (11AM to 15.30PM if I'm not mistaken, and it closes for the night at 3.30AM so beware). These are the only downsides I can think of.

It is not much of a party hostel, I found it to be quiet at night (which for me is a good thing). In any case, the party in Perugia takes place outside anyway on the steps of the Duomo on the main square.

If you are on a budget this place is wholeheartedly recommended. I have stayed here twice already and will stay again if I return to Perugia in the future.
