“AMAZING PLACE !!!!”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

Without any doubt, the best place in Perugia, Patrizia family is lovely, they make us feel like in home, and give us an amazing dinner ( trufas and wine !!), the room is great , clean, big, and with everything you need.
Great ubication, and with car park included, you can walk to downtown in 10 min.
If i comeback i will stay again here, we are so happy to chose La Guadiola
i can resume everything with 2 words: AMAZING and LOVELY.

We stayed a week and a half at this B&B, which was sort of an apartment, with a full kitchen. Patrizia was a wonderful hostess, and made sure we were well situated! We had use of a beautiful terrace, although the weather did not cooperate much of the time. The B&B is steps from Il Tempio, a beautiful historic temple, as well as a medieval tower where you can get fantastic views of Umbria. Also very close to a lovely wine store run by Claudia, who will give you a taste of whatever she has open. Andrea, our host, was a joy as well, we got to know them pretty well and enjoyed their company when we could. They really made the trip a memorable one.
The kitchen comes stocked with bread and yogurt, jam and coffee, and other bits of breakfast fare. You can stock up the fridge...there are plenty of dishes and glasses for a group. In the downstairs apartment where we stayed, we had one double bed and one twin bed. Wi-fi was intermittent, but we were rarely inside, and you can get wi-fi all over Perugia (even on the buses). The ceiling is remnant of many renovated buildings in Perugia, with brick Etruscan arches, just gorgeous. The bathroom is good sized for Italy, with a real hair dryer (this is rare!). The shower is a bit small if you are a large person, but perfectly normal for Italy B&Bs.
All in all, a lovely experience!

La Guardiola del Tempio is a converted watch-house from a millennium ago. It consists of a spacious single room with a quaint, well-stocked kitchen (see photos).

Patrizia and Andrea are wonderful. She met us at the bus station, brought us to the room, and introduced her family, including a long-haired tabby and a pug, Tequila. One afternoon on her deck she brought out some fresh fava beans and sliced pecorino, which we enjoyed with a wine that Andrea and his family had made.

The only drawbacks are the absence of laundry facilities, and a small shower stall.

But both Patrizia and Andrea did so much to make our stay pleasant, even to make us feel like family. The room would have been enough to warrant five stars; the hosts are worth five more.

We stayed for two nights in the downstairs apartment, we were warmly welcomed by Patrizia, the apartment is beautifully furnished and plentiful breakfast provisions were provided, it is at the top end of the wall, but an easy walk to the square for restaurants if you wish, also secure parking provided which is handy if you have a car, would highly recommend.

I've just spent 2 weeks staying in the B&B La Guardiola del Tempio in the attic studio "La Chiocciola". It was totally brilliant. I was treated like a member of the family (Patrizia, Andrea and Benedetto) and made extremely welcome. It was my second time in beautiful Perugia to do a language course. The location is excellent being close to the old city centre and the University for Foreigners.

Note that while "La Chiocciola" has its own bathroom (shower, basin, toilet), breakfast is taken with the family downstairs which is lovely! I was helped with any problems and constantly involved with the family. By the end of 2 weeks I was starting to feel like a real Perugian!

If you want a more private stay, then I suggest staying in the apartment below (La Guardiola del Tempio) which I was shown. It's delightfully rustic and has its own bathroom and kitchen.

A very special experience and highly recommended!

This was our second stay in La Guardiola, first one was for a month, and recently, for 5 nights. This is an atmospheric room built into the old city wall right next to the beautiful old Temple of St Angelo. It is large, very clean and comfortable with a beautiful vaulted ceiling and has a small fully equipped kitchen. The hosts, Patrizia and Andreas are extremely helpful, generous and great fun. They have included us in some of their family outings and now we have become friends. Our second stay was like coming home to one of the most atmospheric cities.

This is our second stay at La Guardiola del Tempio, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The accomodations were very comfortable and, even more impressive, was the hospitality of the hosts Patrizia and Andrea. On both occasions, they were very welcoming and friendly, engaging in friendly conversation, giving us excellent recommendtions for restaurants and day trips, and making us feel at home. If you want to experience Perugia while feeling right at home, this is the place to say. We recommend it wholeheartedly!
