Perfectly located in the charming city of Perugia, you are never far on foot from all the major sites.

Lovely hotel, slightly old fashioned, but then a lot of the good hotels in Italy are not decorated like boutique hotels, but retain the traditional Italian style look.

We booked a standard room, which turned out to be very large with a great size bathroom, and loads of wardrobe space. As it was fitted out for disabled access, the above bath shower did not have a curtain, which made showering slightly
more of a challenge. Extra towels each day from housekeeping solved the splashing issue, but not sure why disabled access rooms, do not have a shower curtain.

We did not book breakfast, so we just explored all the different local cafes each day, which was fantastic, and a great way to start the day. Much better than eating in, and at 19 euros per person for breakfast, we also saved a load of money.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, which really added to our stay. Normally the better hotels, seem to have staff who are a bit stand offish, but not here. Particular mention to Valeria on reception, who always had a lovely smile to greet us.

There is a compact pool, underneath the hotel, along with a small gym area. After a long day walking around the city, we were hoping for a chilled pool to refresh and reinvigorate us, but although it was very pleasant, the water temperature was
fairly warm. This made the whole area quite warm, not really ideal if you wanted to use the gym.

All in all a great place to stay, and for the quality of the hotel, great room rates.

The Brufani is situated high up in the medieval town of Perugia with panoramic views over the Umbrian hills. Exploring the old town is so easy from it's perfect location.

The hotel combines traditional charm with the facilities to be expected of a modern hotel.

We enjoyed a delightful stay at the Brufani and would love to return again soetime.

came for a wedding and stayed here off the lovely Piazzi Italia. The hotel is a bit dated and could use a furniture update, but beyond that the location is terrific (although parking is 20 euros plus tax a day), easy walk to the heart of old Perugia city center and all that you can see there. Service was friendly and attentive from front desk to bell staff to housekeeping with nice turndown service. The room was large enough if not a bit old and dated inside. It's what you might expect from a 4 star property. Plenty of closet space, a decent enough bed, minibar with free non-alcoholic drinks and some chocolate goodies. Air con which was needed then worked fine. If there's any negative it's the dark lighting without the shades open, and the very small bathroom, but the shower was fine and all otherwise clean with basic amenities. Off the top floor is a lovely outdoor terrace with chairs and loungers overlooking the city, and a glass-enclosed terrace on the opposite side perhaps for events, but you could sit and take in the sun and sights there as well- and we seemed to be the only ones doing so on either. If you want to just walk and get a feel for Perugia then this was the top place we found and would recommend it as such.

Room tip: higher floor overlooking the city below ideally or the hills towards Assissi

Having stayed here for twelve nights, I feel well qualified to review the Brufani. It's superb.

Physically, it's as beautiful as can be. High ceilings, quality furnishings, spacious corridors and a truly beautiful breakfast room with views of the valley below.

The location is superb. It's at the end of the main street in the old town (and I mean old -- there are Etruscan ruins in Perugia) but connected by an amazingly beautiful series of escalators to the commercial district below.

Best of all was the service, which was gracious and attentive with no expectation of tips and no whiff of "corporate" training. The Brufani is truly an "old world" experience in the best sense.

My room rate was very good for this quality, but some of the extras -- onsite dining, laundry, etc., were quite expensive. Luckily there are plenty of options at your doorstep.

I hope to turn to the Brufani, and recommend it without reservation.

Room tip: Having a view of the valley would be a big plus.
