“A pleseant re-discovery”

With a friend of mine we discovered this restaurant when it was in the centre of Perugia. I lived within walking distance so the central location did not affect me like everybody else needing to come by car and park.
The restaurant disappeared for few years and that same friend I went with the first time, re-discovered it.
I have to say we go there for the fish, but I expect that the professionality of the chef would not stop at the fish. This second time I chose different kinds of raw fish as a starter and tuna filet in crust of sesame seeds. Simply spectacular.
Everything was accompanied with sicilian white wine suggested by the chef's wife that is a knowledgeable sommelier.
To conclude, itis definately worth a visit if you are in Perugia and you want to discover Italian/Sicilan cusine (and wine) at its best.
Regarding price of course you will spend more than going to a pizzeria,but for quality and ultimately flavour I did not find many restaurant around the world (and I travel for work a lot) that can match l' Opera.
Go there if you are a gourmet or just if you want to have an idea what the word means.

“No Better Restaurant in Umbria”

With the "second coming" of L'Opera on the Perugia restaurant scene, Angelo Zarbo has reestablished himself as the preeminent chef in the region. What Mr. Zarbo does in the kitchen, particularly with seafood, is incomparable. Don't miss his polipo with zucchini as a first course or his rif on couscous with seafood. If you are lucky enough to be there when he is making his seafood ragu, it is a work of art--matching the best of the meat-based ragu of Bologna. His sesame crusted tuna--cooked rare--is like eating a delicious piece of butter. Other fish secondi are the equal of any you will find in Italy. Finish your dinner with the delicious desserts, particularly those made by Eleonora Zarbo, who also serves as L'Opera's gracious maitresse d'hotel.
