I made a reservation for lunch and thank goodness, otherwise we would not have got in. The place is centrally located in Basel so in the winter is quickly filled up when the outside seating area is closed. The acoustics are not excellent for conversations as the restaurant is like big hall with wooden furniture. Although I sat opposite by colleague I ended up trying to lip-read a lot of the time due to the noise levels i.e. not suitable for a business lunch.
The service is slow and trying to pay takes ages. Nobody seems to be coordinating the staff or the reception area. We saw several people leave as they were neither greeted or served.
Now for the positives: the house white wine was very good and went well with the most popular meal: Feuerkuchen. This was perfectly adequate for lunch with a salad included (Fr. 20.50). My colleague had a combination of small starters, like tapas, in glass jars, and it was not really enough and quite expensive. We asked for more bread to go with it.
All-in-all, the place in convenient, the food ok and the prices average for this part of the world but only go there if you have a lot of time on your hands.
