We read about Dreilaendereck (3 countries corner) where France & Germany & Switzerland meet and wanted to go there while we were staying in Basel. Fortunately we were with someone who knew right where it was & how to get there. We first took a tram & then walked about 15 - 20 minutes part of the time along the pier.
Dreilaendereck is a tall monument with 3 spires that twirl toward the top. At the bottom of each of the spires is one of the 3 countries' flags. It was interesting & we had our picture taken there. Since it was on our "wish list", it was good to see it & EXTREMELY helpful to have someone with us who knew the way!
Interestingly enough, a couple days later we started our Rhine River Cruise. While sailing out of Basel, we saw Dreilaendereck from a distance off the right side of our boat. However, had we not been there before or known what to look for, we would likely have missed it.
My recommendation, if taking a Rhine River Cruise out of Basel, is to look for it from the boat & know ahead of time what it looks like since they didn't point it out on the cruise. I would not likely recommend it otherwise given the distance it is from Old Town Basel.
