We stayed here for one night prior to catching a flight. Very good location right beside the train station in the centre of town. Very pleasant welcome.

We had booked one of the top rooms which was not overly big but for one night, acceptable. I would have to say that I don't particularly wish to have an exercise bike or wall bars in my room!! The room promised bathrobes and slippers which weren't provided. However after speaking to reception, they duly appeared.

Our room was at the front of the hotel and although previous posts have stated that the double glazing kept out the sound of the trams this is not the case.

Breakfast was basic but I refuse to pay extra for eggs when I'm booked on a bed and breakfast basis.

Although acceptable, I can't understand how this hotel is rated so highly on trip advisor

Room Tip: I assume rooms at the back are quieter

We arrived in the midst of preparations for the 150th anniversary of the hotel. Nevertheless check in was immediate and we were allocated room 515, the furthest room away from the function. After returning from dinner and gaining entry by flashing our wristbands at the security guard we slept peacefully. By the time we came down for breakfast there was no sign of the night's festivities. Everything was back to normal, apart from some bleary eyes. Room 515 has a sloping ceiling and it is very easy for the unsuspecting and the forgetful to bang their head. Quite a hazard, which could be alleviated by use of reflective tape.

nice and friendlly stuff
location close to the train station, easy access

- rooms and the bed is quite small
- the bath is modern but it was not clean...it was full of hair everywhere from the previous guest

Room Tip: the rooms toward the city are noise due to trams running until late in the night

We booked this hotel for one night, simply as a place to rest our heads after a dinner we had booked in Basel, and I must say, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was 501, which was a corner room and very spacious, indeed. All hardwood floors with a lovely sloping ceiling. Our only gripe was the two big windows had only sheers covering them! Needless to say, we were up with the morning light. Why would anyone put only sheers on the windows in a hotel?? Beats me. Aside from this, would stay again.

We were in a room with fitness amenities that included an exercise/stretching bar and a stationary bike. It would have been great if I had been sitting in meetings all day, but not necessary for a tourist walking miles each day. Appreciated the access to bottled water and soft drinks on each floor. Clean, spacious room. Our room rate did not include breakfast and I would not pay extra for their continental buffet.

The hotel is very well located as you have to, practicaly, cross the street from the train station to reach it. The room is confortable and silent. Good shower and new bathroom. Staff helpful. Recommended.

This hotel is convenient to the train station and easy walking distance to town, river and the trams. The hotel was recently renovated so the rooms have new floors (no carpets) and bathrooms. There is a lovely breakfast in the morning. The staff is helpful -- however doesn't have a long list of restaurants to recommend. The street is noisy if you like to leave your window open at night.
