one of the few cheap plces, one can stay in Basel. Good hostel, friendly staff, efficient and clen, off course not cheap, all Switzerland is very expensive. Dinner was good, with 17 CHF not cheap, but again, you will not find a three-course meal in Basel in a restaurant at that price. Very good breakfast buffet

My sister and I stayed here in June 2013. At first, because we were thick, we took some ridiculous long route from the centre of Basel because my phone maps thing wasn't working properly. I was fuming because I thought we would have to take a huge walk every day to get anywhere but once we arrived we realised where we had gone wrong and it is actually very conveniently located. If I recall it took us about ten minutes in the end to get to what I guess is the centre of Basel, where the shops and supermarkets are. It was a lovely walk every day past a really cool graveyard and a lot of historic buildings.
The room in the hotel itself was very cool. A minimal decor and comfy beds and very spacious. The breakfast each morning was delicious. My only issue with the room was that when we stayed you could not use the wi-fi in your room which was pretty annoying so you had to go downstairs. The staff when we stayed were nice enough. Not overly friendly but we didn't mind that.
I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Basel. It was pretty cheap considering how expensive Basel as a city is.

This place looks much better in person than in the photos - they've used a lot of wood and concrete which don't photograph well! It is cheap for Switzerland - everything is very expensive - and in a good location, just a short walk from the town centre in a quiet area.

The two person rooms seem more like hotel rooms than a hostel. We were at the back of the building on the 1st floor and we slept really well as it was so quiet. The bed was made and towels were in the ensuite on arrival, and you just take the sheets and towels to the laundry room as you leave. You can hire hairdryers for a 50 CHF deposit. They have large left luggage lockers that fit 2-3 hand luggage sized bags that take a 5 CHF coin which you get back.

The staff were really helpful and the breakfast was nice - it includes breads and jams etc, cereals, yoghurts, meats and cheeses plus hot drinks.

The hostel was hard to find the first time:- As you walk down Muhlenburg street it goes downhill. Shortly before the bottom of the street by the river the road widens out and there is a gate into a churchyard on the right. The eastiest way to get to the hostel is to walk through the churchyard, then turn right as you exit and you will see the side of the hostel building ahead of you (look for the triangle hostel symbol on the wall). There are small signs for pedestrians that also feature the symbol to help guide you.

If you print out your booking email you can travel for free to the hostel on public transport but it is highly unlikely anyone will ask to see it, they don't seem to care if you have a ticket or not. On arrival at the hostel they give you a travelcard for all public transport that you can use for the duration of your stay.

Room tip: The curtains are very thin, if you prefer darker rooms, ask for a room on a lower floor at the back of the building.

I was stay there with my husband during our trip in Basel, Switzerland. The hostel located in great location, walk distance from city center, train station also from some interesting museum also very quite. The room we had was clean and really nice with big windows so we can enjoy the view direct from our bed, perfect location for us, complete with balcony. They also gave us some fruits, snacks, a bottle of sparkling water and welcome card that the put in our room when we check in. Really feel like we stay in the hotel not hostel.. The breakfast was excellent. Unlucky no wifi in the room, only in seating room or near the reception. The staffs were so nice, friendly and quite helpful. The price can't say cheap but maybe for accommodation in Switzerland, it's looks normal.

Room tip: If you are couple, room number 223 or the room above are nice because you will get big windows as wall and can get 2 side of view.
