“Beautiful Architecture and Great Location”
Reviewed 24 March 2013

A fairytale setting - stunning building, features and views. Staff friendly and think of everything (water station at front door for early morning joggers). Room was spacious, but the best feature was the large and well appointed bathroom. I wish my bathroom looked so good. Warning: hotel does not provide iron or ironing board - they claim it is against Swiss law (fire hazard). They will press your clothes at approx. $10 Swiss francs a piece (approx $11 US dollars). Too pricey for me. Room was quite warm and had difficulty controlling the temperature, but you can open the windows to help regulate.

A four day trip to Switzerland with the London Mayors Association with 72 other ex Mayors of London

We arrived at the hotel and were given our room keys. Our luggage was delivered to our room within ten minutes.
Our room was spacious with twin beds joined together but with separate duvets. The storage areas for clothes were more than enough. Plenty of drawers and cupboards.

The bathroom was large with a bath and a shower cubicle that had two shower heads.

The only problem was the heating; once we found out how to adjust this we were fine.

The staff was superb, most helpful in every way.

The restaurant was bright and airy, the Maître D was outstanding. My wife has non life threatening allergies and upon announcing our room number he was very attentive ordering breakfast to be cooked separate from the normal buffet.
On our day of departure he handed my wife a birthday card signed by all the staff, and after she had finished her cooked meal the staff delivered a birthday cake with a huge firework on the top. A very nice touch!.

The bar like most of Switzerland was pricy but very nice to return to in the evening.
The style of the hotel was old but beautifully decorated. The ceiling on the ground floor was stunning as was the decoration for Easter with a tree with eggs and rabbits hanging from the branches. The base was surrounded with flowers and fluffy rabbits.
A truly 5* hotel. If we could afford it we would stay again!

Room Tip: All rooms were good, but the ones facing the river and mountains are to die for

The Bellevue offers what one can expect from a five-star hotel, and then some. Check-in was very friendly and efficient. Our room was very nice, spacious, wonderful view. What struck us the most however was the quiet. We didn't hear any other hotel guests, no elevator, nothing. I don't recall having ever been in such a quiet hotel.

Breakfast is served as buffet, with an excellent variety of foods. Again, the service (mainly for coffee) was impeccable. When we're in Bern again, the Bellevue is quite probably the place we'll stay.

We stayed at one of the suits of the hotel last year. It had a perfect view of the river and the city plus the room service was exceptional! It was fine dining in the comfort and privacy of your room! Totally recommend. Best place to stay in Bern be it for leisure or business!

Arrived in Bern exhausted after missing a flight. The friendly staff made my day as they greeted me by name as soon as I came to the reception to check in. They had my documents ready and was escorted to the room almost immediately. It was indeed a room with a view, facing the river and the mountains an the back. Gorgeous view with the snow and all.

The hotel was elegant and full of character. Location was excellent, everything is within 15 mins walking...even the Unesco site. Loved it. We even walked to our meetings in the snow, so convenient and very close to the train station. Claudia the Chief Concierge was great in helping us make the most of our short business visit. Everyone was very hospitable during the stay, including those at the breakfast restaurant. I will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with the view across the river. Gorgeous!

Stayed for 5 nights on business. The hotel is in central Bern next to the old town, capitol buildings, and lots of shopping. Its old, but very well modernized--rooms have heated floors, great views, great amenities. Service is top level--they learn your name and greet you by name the whole stay. Fitness/Sauna is a bit small--adequate, just not a strength. The main restaurant is fabulous. Glad I was funded on business--Switzerland is crazy expensive, but the same everywhere.
