“Unusuall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

It is a fountain, but doesn't look like one. Not in an architectural way we are accustomed to think about famous fountains. However, it stands out, very beautiful with the lake Leman, and the boats, and the buildings. I am sure you will remember it beacause of the festive atmosfere its presence creates. It is a symbol of the city of Geneva, and if you unlucky and the weather is bad, you will not see it - they turn it off because of the wind - you will really loose the joy of seeing this spectuclat site.

“For a splash”

On a warm summer day or night , take a walk under and enjoy the mist , lovely !
It's also a nice point of you on the city and some days the lake looks so big that you can dream it is an ocean ....

“It is more a hype than really something to see”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Really, in Geneva there are much more interesting things to see than this ! Anyway, when you walk along the lake you will see it from any angle and perspective. What you see is what you get, so there is no need to see it from a closer perspective...
When your available time in Geneva is short, you should rather see the cathedral, carouge, some of the parcs like the botanic garden, and UN..The Jet d'eau is something like a self- created and promoted marketing gag...and it worked !!!!

“Did you know?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

The Jet d'Eau of Water Jet runs all year round - weather permitting. When it is turned on, it is turned on at an exact time so that you can set your watch by it.
It you travel up to the Saleve (the mountain seen in the background of this image)- either by car or using the Telepherique (cable car) you can look down on Geneva and the Jet d'Eau gives you a great sense of scale. Note that you have to cross into France to do this.
There are many restaurants around the lake that give you views of the Jet d'Eau.
By the way if you need to ask you way it is pronounced "jay do" (Roughy)
