The great thing about this Ibis is that it a quick walking distance from the Central train station, which is only one stop from the airport.
The interesting fact about the location is that it is right beside a Salvation Army Center and Waifs and Strays Hostel.
The great thing about this Ibis is that it is a reasonably priced hotel in expensive Geneva.
The interesting fact is...well, there isn't really one. It is a reasonably priced Ibis in an expensive city. You can't except too much from the Ibis, but it was clean and comfortable. Actually, the first room we were given Wasn't clean, but we asked to be changed and were relocated without question.
No kettle/jug in the room, and no fridge. No fancy shampoos and no fluffy bathrobes. But then again, it is an Ibis so you can't expect those things.
The breakfast isn't anything to rave about, and possibly a little on the expensive side for the selection, but it was convenient.
They only real thing is that when we checked in to our two rooms, they gave one of us the smallest room on the floor, and the other the largest. I thought this was pretty strange, as it does breed a little bit of room envy when one has a bath and the other has only a shower, when one has room to move and the other can't get their suitcases past the bed. The room we moved to was a little bit bigger. I have posted a photo of the floorplan so if you are booking here you can try and request one of the larger rooms.
And at the end of the day, if you are only staying a few nights and need to be somewhere close to the city, then there isn't really a reason Not to stay here. Just remember to 'steal' some tea bags or hot chocolate from breakfast and ask for a free cup of hot water if you like an evening cuppa, anything more will cost you extra.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath as these seem to be larger.

Very close to Geneva railway station. Print a map off though otherwise you won't find it! Very modern. Excellent room. Slept well. No breakfast included. Hats another 15 francs. Was about 190francs for a twin room without food. Vending machine in foyer. Not much restaurant wise nearby as a bit rough. Found a pasta bar near station which was good value. 12 francs for a main. Good for business people but not a romantic venue! Oh didn't have breakfast. Went to migros shop at station instead as travelling next day.

A friend and I stayed in this Ibis for 2 nights in September and were really impressed. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station as we took the train from the airport and is about a 10 minute walk down to the Lake and shopping area. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful and check in was very quick. The room was fairly large with very comfortable twin beds and a lovely powerful shower! The room had a desk, tv and sofa to store the bags. The bar downstairs did a lovely hot chocolate :) we paid for breakfast one morning which had lots of choice and enough to set you up for the day. I would say the hotel is also about a 15 min walk from the United Nations too. Very pleased with the hotel- definitely recommend for the price, was of the most reasonable we saw.

I know that Geneva hotel prices across the board are high, but still expected more from a hotel where I paid over $200/night for a room. Ibis is the budget brand of the Accor Hotels chain, and they live up to that moniker.

Let's start with the good, daytime checkin staff were pleasant and friendly. The room, while small was clean and inviting.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement on the good side right?

But check out the bad:

Breakfast for 20CHF was pathetic. I would not mind paying this much for a good selection but for a few slices of meat, small pieces of bread and mini croisssants - very disappointing. And oh, if you only want a cup of coffee that will set you back 5CHF.

No toiletries in the very small bathroom. Budget brands from Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton are all able to provide this nominal service.

But the most concerning thing to me was what happens late night in the hotel lobby. I could not sleep one night so went down to use my computer in the lobby. There were a couple of sketchy people hanging out using the hotel computer. I think whoever is on duty overnight likes to allow there friends to come in off the street for free wifi. This did not make me feel comfortable about security.

One last thing about the Accor hotel family. Their internet reservation system is nowhere near on par with classic chains like Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton. While searching for lodging options in Geneva, I made reservation at several hotels prior to making a final decision. Most hotels sent a confirmation via email so I was easily able to go in and cancel when I made a final decision. Accor, however does not do this, nor do they send out a reminder about an upcoming reservation several days in advance. So I mistakenly did not cancel a second reservation I had at the Accor Novotel and got charged for one night's stay. I asked Accor if they would possibly waive the charge, since I did stay at another Accor property but they refused. Not the level of customer service I am used to with the chains I frequent.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Initially, I was greeted by a wonderful front desk staff, they were just as nice and helpful as could be. The room was very nice, the bed comfortable, with a lovely bath. The breakfast, which cost either 15 or 20 Swiss francs extra, was more than one could expect. Very close to the train and buses. I stayed two nights and was exceptionally pleased.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are large, and very convenient to the train (Center Gare), which is seven minutes from...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of a city break. First impressions of the hotel were questionable and not positive. I say this because we were travelling with our 5 month old baby and contacted the hotel before we were due to arrive via email to see if the hotel provides baby cots and did not receive a reply. We were not impressed with this.
On arrival to the hotel we were greeted by a very miserable looking receptionist, who made no effort to smile and make us feel welcome. When we enquired about a baby cot, she replied rather curtly and sourly "I'll see what we can do" . We mentioned that we contacted the hotel weeks before to enquire about and request one but she ignored this and made no attempt to offer an apology for the lack of communication. We were not impressed as we have stayed in many hotels of varying standards but have always received basic customer service. Whenever we have travelled with our baby we have always been asked upfront if we require a travel cot, rather than us having to ask.

We were allocated a room on the fourth floor. On entering the one and only small lift (which only fits 3 people, and if you have a pushchair, suitcase or wheelchair, only one would just about fit), we noticed a note saying guests should expect some noise from 9am-6pm due to work being carried out on the floor and apologies for the inconvenience. Needless to say we proceeded to going to our room. When we reached our floor however, we were greeted with lots of debris, dust and machinery in the corridor, which was not just unpleasant to look at but prevented us from leaving the lift due to obstruction. We returned to reception to ask for a room change as we weren't prepared to stay on a noisy dusty floor, especially with a 5 month old baby. The receptionist should never have allocated us this room in the first place knowing work was being carried out, or at least have informed us about this on check-in. When we returned to request a room change she behaved as though we were too much work for her. This time her colleague actually intercepted. He was actually a lot helpful, polite and courteous. Apologised and immediately arranged for us to change rooms and make arrangements for the travel cot to be sent to us.

Rooms are very basic, the bed was comfortable but there is no kettle (bring your own if you need one). Our room didn't have a window which meant the room was always dark and needed lighting to be kept on. This made the room quite stuffy too. The bathroom was very small but functional with a shower, small basin and toilet. Hair and body wash as well as hairdryer is provided.

Breakfast is very basic and overpriced in my opinion, but in par with the hotels standards. A very limited offering of continental style breakfast which was not replenished efficiently at times. However, is served from 6-10am.

Wi Fi is included which is a plus and the connection was always fast and efficient, but you need separate codes for different devices, which can be a bit of a nuisance when you need to re enter codes to log back in, so remember to keep hold of the slips of paper you are given.

Overall, the hotel is in an excellent location, within close proximity to transport links (5-10minute walk to train station) and main attractions and shops (10-20mins walk). It is more suitable for the business traveller perhaps rather than leisure guest. It is convenient, basic and somewhat comfortable but very overpriced and expensive, however Geneva is expensive as a city on whole so this is probably reflected in the room rate. Customer service was not exceptional by any means. Staff are too relaxed in my opinion (eating breakfast from the breakfast bar whilst guest are dining, standing around gossiping in reception to name a few things, which does not look very professional in my opinion). Also the hotel is not very user friendly or accessible for people with wheelchairs or families travelling with pushchairs. Their is limited access with one door on the other side of reception that will let you out of the building easily but not back in. The hotel entrance has no efficient ramp system to let pushchairs or wheelchairs in. We had to carry our pushchair up a few steps each time we used the main entrance.

Geneva is a beautiful city but very expensive. We were quoted a taxi from the airport to Central Geneva as 40 Swiss francs. When you land, you can obtain free public transport tickets from a machine in the baggage hall. You can use these on trains, trams or buses which take you straight into the city. Very useful and public transport is very efficient. Be sure to get your free public transport pass at the hotel when you check in too, which covers you for the duration of your stay. We only needed to use it to travel to the botanical gardens and United Nations building, as these were further away from the hotel.

Nice break in a lovely city but spoiled a little by the negatives in our accommodation.

Thanks a lot for your detailed review. I am very sorry, that you have not been entirely satisfied with your stay in our hotel. We are always grateful for any constructive criticism, which allows us to improve the quality of our services continuously.
On your review you said that you expected more for the amount you paid. We start to renovated all the room.
Our room’s size is on the average of a standard Ibis room and the breakfast is the standard breakfast of all the Ibis Hotel in Switzerland.
We thank you again for your help and hope to welcome you again soon.
