“Nice hotel close to railway station”
Reviewed 28 September 2012

Hotel Cristal is a nice and modern hotel close to the railway station. the rooms are small but provide everything you need. Equiped with modern furniture in semi-transparent glas style are cool and functional. Hotel is very clean and they provide good breakfast. Staff is very friendly and supportive.

Room Tip: TRy to get a room to the backside, it is less noisy.

Location: once you reach Cornavin Metro Station, take Mont Blanc Exit; turn left and you are 1 min away from the hotel. It is next to Coffee Shops including Starbucks, Restaurants of different cuisines and McDonalds. After crossing this area, “Manor” the shopping mall is on the right side and 5 minutes away. Genève Lake is 7 – 10 minutes walking from hotel area.

Room: our room was small with blue and silver color with very modern style which may not be pleasant for some people. There is no view to the city from the room. Pillows were very soft; you need extra pillow for your neck.

Cleaning: the room cleaning was good but bath towels are small

Breakfast: Regular such as (croissants, bread, jams and butter with coffee and juices). It was expensive and not impressive at all but we took it because we used to wake up late. The breakfast area wasn’t that big but it has a view of the city although I found it very normal. If you wake up early, you might catch the breakfast service at the restaurants next to the hotel area

Hotel Staff: they were fine but we had to take our bags to the room as they don’t have concierge service.

Room Tip: If you are reserving several rooms then it is better to clarify it by email and over the phone. We r...

Very nice hotel with modern interior design. The rooms is in calm light-blue-green colour with many frosted glass surfaces. It's good to have a rest here after long way or walkings across the city. The Rooms equiped with TV, air conditioners, safes and even electric kettles. Wi-Fi works good in the rooms. Breakfast hall is in the top floor with nice panoramic view to the city and Mont Blanc the mountain. The hotel has good location in the centre of Geneva, near from central train station and tram stop, there is many cafes, bars and restaurants. Value is high for 3-stars hotel, but for center of one of expencive cities of Europe it's normal.
One of the best hotels that I've been. My recomendations.

Room Tip: The rooms are quiet, and have air conditoners, but if you like go to bed early and sleep with open w...

Geneva is a very expensive city so I think for Geneva this hotel is very good value.

The decor is odd but very modern. The frosted glass for the bathroom wall and door is a little uncomfortable as I was staying with a colleague but not terrible! The room is a good size by European standards and very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the room is very quiet even though it is on a busy street.

The free wifi was great, fast and reliable. The breakfast room had a lovely view and a selection of things to eat including cereal, fruit, yoghurt, meat, cheese, pastries and crackers.

The staff are reasonably helpful, and were able to help with suggestions for dinner.

The location is fantastic. The hotel is right next to the main train station and with your free travel card it is very easy to get around.

I'm still really not sure what I think of this hotel.

What I liked:
Free wifi, very comfy bed, clean rooms, right next door to Starbucks, relatively cheap, great location.

What I didn't really like:
Breakfast was ridiculously expensive for what was actually on offer (a couple of cereals, bread, a few pastries, a few cooked meats/cheeses - no hot buffet), no bath (despite the website promising all rooms had bathtubs - mine did not), aircon was rubbish, they initially tried to fob me off with a single room, even though my booking confirmation clearly stated double, no room service, no mini bar in the rooms (there is a communal minibar in the corridor of each floor), rooms are very small, noisy area at night.

I would stay again I think, simply for the price, location and free wifi, but at least next time I will know what to expect! And I will buy breakfast somewhere else. :)

Rooms are pretty small. And they only have 1 type of room, so forget about upgrading. But to our surprise the rooms are well designed and efficient. And for the price we pay, it's a pretty good deal.

The staffs we met were inconsistent. The first one was a male, and was extremely helpful with a good humor. The second female staff we met, named Div (as i remember from glancing at her name tag), was extremely unhelpful. We needed help with booking train tickets from sncf.com as the website is in french and all she did was hand my husband a key pass to use the hotel computer and internet access. I cant decide whether she's daft or blind to do that cos my husband had an ipad with him (which he had showed to her when we asked for help), which was already connected to the website. We then decided to give her another chance to help us (maybe she had a bad day during our first encounter with her) by asking her to speak to the hotels we needed booking with cos they speak french and little English. AGAIN, she gave us that access key and asked us to use the computer. With that kind of attitude, she's likely to make quite a lot of customers unhappy. If the hotel is ever reading this, I hope they would deal with her SOON ENOUGH.

Room Tip: they only have one type. b/f is on the 8th floor, if that matters, then u can choose rooms nearer th...

We are staying for 2 nights at an incredibly cheap 80fr per night, Sat/sun booked on website direct.

The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable.

The bed is comfy and it is quiet.

The room decorations and style are modern and funky which may not suit everyone but for us it was fine. The ensuite is enclosed in frosted glass which may not be the ideal style but it is ok.

If you were paying Geneva rates you may find it lacking but did the cost it was great value, they also let us checkin early which was a bonus after 18 hours of travel from Singapore via Helsinki.

When a cup of coffee at a Starbucks is 6-7 fr and a 500ml bottle water can cost 5fr if ordered with a food court meal, you need to find savings where you can!

The hotel was quiet (for our stay), just near train station and good value, highly recommended, but don't pay a budget price and expect 5 stars or you would be dissappointed
