Hotel Cristal Design

Flew into Geneva for a one day stop-over before heading on to Zermatt. We wanted a place close to the train station so that we could catch our train the following morning. Hotel Cristal Design is less than a block from the train station. Just take the underpass from the train station and you emerge staring directly at a Starbucks which is just a couple of doors away from the hotel. This ultra-modern hotel was fantastic. The front desk staff were attentive and incredibly helpful. The high speed internet was easy to access and very fast. The imaginative use of frosted green glass and lighting made a relatively small room seem much larger. Fixtures and fittings were first rate, and the room was impeccable. The price, location and quality of this hotel make it a great deal in an expensive city like Geneva.

Room Tip: Starbucks coffee is just two doors down.

Pros
- clean
- quite in room
- location good for station
- price for Geneva

Cons
- some staff cold unfriendly
- location - area around the station not as good as the old town
- price relatively expensive, for what you get.

I would rather stay in the Ibis for business. As a tourist I would not stay in Geneva, rather somewhere like Annecy and do a day trip to Geneva.

A wonderful little hotel right in the centre of Geneva, a short walk from the Lake and train station. Lots of restaurants within a few mins walk.
The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small but its fine for a few nights stay. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Geneva.

pro:
- location is good, just 2min walk to cornavin main station and 15min walk to downtown.
- room and facilities are new, esp. the bath room.
Con
- room is quite small and we didn't get the requested room facing mountain/lake.
-service is not consistent. The lady is very efficient and responsive while the guy is quite slow.

Room Tip: higher floor the better.

I like the fact that the train takes you directly from the airport to the hotel. So qui and easy! The rooms are small (like everywhere in Geneva) but well organized and clean! It's comfortable. The breakfast are too expensive, go next door to Starbucks.

This hotek has a great location and a helpful staff. The rooms are clean and sufficient. It is trying to be a trendy boutique hotel but stops short of this. The sky blue decor is cheap and tacky looking not chic. My main problem with the room was with the thermostat which I could not seem to work it to cool the room and the bed (a twin) that was placed against the "sideboard" and wall...every time I rolled over I hit my elbow against the sideboard. (Basically, the sideboard was a headboard that ran along one side of the bed that had a shelf, the reading lamp, and the telephone so that a night stand and a true headboard was unnecessary.) Overall, this hotel is fine, no serious complaints, but I suspect I might try another the next time I'm in Geneva...it was fairly cheap though.

Stayed at the Cristal for a convention being held at the Palexpo at the airport. The beauty of this hotel is that it is 2 minutes walk from the train station where you can pick up a train, taxi, or bus ( #5) to the expo hall or airport. For the location it was very quiet ( I was on the backside of the hotel). I've stayed in Geneva several times and to me, the ease of access to the train station was very important. As far as the hotel, the rooms were small, even by European standards but I very rarely stay in the room other then to do some work or sleep so it didn't bother me too much. There was enough storage for my bags and garments and a work desk ( free Wi-Fi which I think all hotels should provide) so all in all it was a pleasurable stay and I would stay there again. The only negative would be the rather minimal breakfast. Typical cereal, boiled eggs, a few meats and cheeses and juices / coffee.
