“Tiffany - Room For Improvement Yet Excellent Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2008

The location of the hotel is very good - close to old town and also close to shopping district. The area feels very safe at night and using the trams/buses are very straight forward. The free transport card given for Geneva is a real bonus. This can even be used on the yellow boats that cross the Lake.

The hotel itself is very stylish looking on the surface - however lack of space is an issue in the restaurant attached to the hotel. The tables and chairs are uncomfortable and you feel squashed in. There is a small glass lift which holds only 2/3 people. Room was on 4th floor and was kitted out with everything you would expect. No tea and coffee facilities provided - but available on request from Reception. Bathroom really let room down - it was very small with no bath and ceiling was stained with mould/water stain marks. Otherwise everything else was very clean. The main problem with the room was the lack of proper airconditioning. It was cold outside yet this hotel was like a sauna - even with windows open there was lack of air flow. The airconditioning unit is right by window and didn't do much to reduce temperature. It didn't help that chamber maid kept turning it off and closing up all windows! Bathrobes and slippers are on offer along with turn down service which was nice.

Other negative point was the attitude of staff on duty in restaurant at breakfast. They were unfriendly bordering on being rude. You felt that you were trepassing on their property! They were more interested in looking after paying customers from the street bringing them fresh coffee while as hotel guest you had to use a self service machine. Choice of food was very limited - the range of cheese was worst I've seen in any hotel. The hot selection was even worse - horrible overcooked sausages and dried out scrambled eggs.

Hotels in Geneva are on the whole expensive - so you don't feel you are getting value for your money. I would stay here again as the location was very good. The reception staff too were friendly and helpful. If you stay here don't expect too much! Free internet is also bonus. Hotel does seem to be updating some rooms and replacing carpets etc on lower floor rooms.

Having read the great reviews of this hotel we decided to splash out and stay there. It was very expensive accomodation compared to another hotel we stayed in on the other side of the river. We were disappointed and wished we had booked back into the other hotel. We had the junior suite with jacuzzi which we were assured would fit a family of four. My husband and I had a very nice double room but the children (one teenager and one 11 year old) had to put up with a foldaway bed and a sofa bed in a very small attached lounge room. They were uncomfortable and there was only one bathroom for the 4 of us. Given that the price for this was double what we paid for two very comfortable interconnecting rooms each with a large comfortable bathroom about 15 mins walk away we were, needless to say, disappointed.

The breakfast food was fine but there was no service. A note at the table said you could ask for a coffee at the bar but when we went to the bar we were told to go and get our own coffee from the Nescafe machine (despite the fact that locals seemed to be able to get an expresso from the bar).

We will not be going back.

This was one of the best hotel we've stayed in the whole trip. Nice location, with a friendly staff and a very clean and spacious room. The breakfast is just great, and you can't believe there is a hot chocolate so nice. A small tip: if you stay in a hotel in Geneve, you get a free public transportation pass for all your stay. So don't rent a car in Geneve, unlesse you wanna go to other nearby cities.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights over New Year's. It is a charming small old hotel on the edge of the old town. Our room was bright and spacious with a large bathroom Our family with 2 small children stayed next door ( Room 323) in the luxurious family suite.
We very much appreciated the welcome glass of champagne and the fruit basket delivered to our room.
The bar and the restaurant are also old and charming, the only problem was that they were understaffed over the NY's period.
Breakfast ( which was included) and dinner were delicious.

The staff at the front desk were EXCELLENT. We had many requests... a reservation for NY's eve when all restaurants were full and a baby sitter on NY's eve were probably the most challenging but they were there for us at any time. These women made our stay even more perfect.

We have stayed at the larger hotel across the bridges but I would definitely return to the Tiffany

Tiffany's is a great little gem near the heart of Geneva. It is a boutique hotel, so be prepared to carry your own luggage up the tiny lift which may take several trips (will just fit 1 person along with 2 check-in luggage). We (wife+child) stayed a couple of nights in the suite (room 323) over xmas. Here are some thoughts on the place:

1) our room was nice and very spacious. The hotel was renovated in 06 I think so everything is pretty new and works.
2) The suite is definitely recommended if you are travelling with a child
3) Suite has 2 plasma tvs but only 4 channels in english - cnn, bbc, bbc prime and nbcnews. Kids channel in french. you dont come to geneva to watch TV anyhows.
4) pay to use internet in the rooms (via ISDN or wifi). There is a pc on the ground floor for guests but like most public terminals, you wonder about the security.
5) Breakfast is served in the quaint restaurant and is worth the 15euros.
6) the hotel sits on the south bank slightly west of all the main attractions. it's only a 10-15minutes walk to the old city and shopping arcades and to get to the northern bank, use the tram (catch from the Cirque stop)
7) The hotel provides free public transport around geneva for the duration of your stay. This also includes the yellow boats that go along the lake.
8) Cheapest route to the airport - Use the tram from cirque to get to Cornavin stop (only 4 stops away) and then catch the train to the airport. Cost is 50euros by cab otherwise (airport is only 7km away)

  • Liked — Its newly refurbished and close to town

We stayed at the Hotel Tiffany for only two nights but loved every minute of staying there. It is tucked away on a lovely street in a quiet part (but very central) of Geneva and was really well situated for gettıng around Geneva.
Geneva was the first stop on our world tour that is lastıng nıne months and after a crazy few months finishing work and organising the trip we were really tired so agreed that we would treat ourselves and start the journey with a little luxury and stay in a more expensıve hotel than we would be able to afford for the rest of the trip. Hence we booked into Hotel Tıffany and it fıtted the bill perfectly. It is a small "belle epoque" style hotel and whilst the room was not huge it was beautıfully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

After travelling to Geneva from London by train we were too tired to go out and find somewhere to eat on our first nıght so we ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was very nice.

All in all a short but very pleasant stay. We reccommend it if you want a little style and luxury in Geneva.
