“Lovely small hotel in red district street”

This hotel is perfect for city trip. The main train station is about 3 minutes walk, you can walk to the lake and to the old town via the bridge. The rooms are clean, the bathroom is OK and breakfast was simple but very good.

I stayed over for 4 nights while attending a trade show for work.
Pros -
- Great proximity to train station
- value for the price you pay (this is Geneva after all)
- walking distance from the lake and nicer part of town
- lots of cafes and eateries around open till really late. Managed to get a Kebab at like 2 in the morning right next door. :)
- Breakfast was good with a decent selection of items.

Cons -
- Its smack in the middle of the red light district in Geneva with prostitutes and hoodies all around.
- The room was recently done up but the bed was really old I think and therefore the sleep quality was not very good.
- A/C was patchy in the night. Could not open the windows as the noise from the street below was too much. (I was on the first floor)
- The bathroom was really tiny and they could have put in a bit of shelving to leave your toiletries.

Room Tip: You are better of picking a room that is facing Rue de Berne as a colleague of mine stayed on the ot...

I stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Windsor. It was very well placed literally a few minutes' walk from the central (Geneva Cornavin) station. It's also about 5 minute's walk from Lake Geneva and Pont du Mont Blanc (the bridge that takes you to the Old Town), making the Old Town accessible within 15-20 minutes on foot. Having said that, note that all public transport (bus/tram/yellow boat) is free with the Travel Card that all Geneva hotels provide free of charge for the duration of your stay.

Check-in was pretty swift and the hotel is split into 2 (with the lobby connecting the 2 buildings). As a result, each building, once you're on the floor of your bedroom, feels quite cramped. The lifts are also tiny. My mum and I struggled to fit into the lift with just our hand luggage. Additionally, there are 2 entrances to the hotel. One entrance backs onto a street that looked like a red light area, so perhaps this entrance should be avoided at night.

The bedroom itself was of decent size, and had a flatscreen TV (but no English channels), a wardrobe, desk and safe. No tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom is tiny, with a shower, toilet and sink all crammed into a small square. 2 in 1 shower gel and soap is provided, and there is a hairdryer too. Air conditioning worked well, certainly better than the curtains (the ends had come off the rail so didn't quite block out all light). Sound insulation is very poor. I could hear every word being said in the room next door. As a result, I woke up 2 hours before my alarm one morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Free Wifi was excellent with no problems with signal strength.

Our room came with breakfast (I believe all rooms do) and comprised buffet style cold meats/cheese, croissants, bread, yoghurt, cereal and hard boiled eggs, as well as the usual hot/cold drinks. Having breakfast included was handy particularly as food isn't cheap in Geneva (using the Big Mac standard, a medium meal was CHF11.70 (£8.60).

All in all the hotel was good value for the price paid. However, the small bathroom and poor sound insulation let it down.

First of all remember you are in Geneva....

The hotel is easily situated 3 minutes walk from the train station. Very easy to find. This walk through the red light district is harmless and I felt in no danger whatsoever despite arriving at around 10pm on a Friday night.

Check in was simple and pleasant, the wifi is strong and breakfast reasonable - basic continental breakfast.

The single room was absolutely fine. Yes it wasn't huge and the bathroom was small but so what?! If small scuffs and marks on some walls bother you, you should stay somewhere twice the price then! The room is absolutely fine for what it is, a base and comfy one at that!

This hotel is located 200m from the central Geneva station, and perfect for a quick overnight if flying early next day. The hotel gives you a 'free pass' which is good for 24hrs on all public transport, boats and the train to the airport....
However, it is quite basic...the room we had on the 5th floor was good sized, the bathroom/shower/WC small but adequate, the furnishings cheap, the quilt and bed clean, towels small but just covered necessities, ( mine, not the wife's tho...). The miniscule lift for two persons was cosy! Breakfast was continental with cereals etc was quite good... the toaster is tricky...needs a fork to remove slices (! Fawlty towers, eat your heart out.). The other interesting thing was that the street has several eateries, and sex clubs....yes....it is on the edge of the red light district, which I was forbidden to explore, (as I required a bottle of water and was firmly instructed to drink from the tap!) But looked quite interesting.....by the way, Geneva tap water is very good. One city block (the 'other' way), is a street with loads of good eateries and cafes, Pasta Prima was good filling and cheap, (several more costly ones all around...) .and the main entrance to the metro shopping under the main station, just up the road. This is a good value ( we paid 70eur for one night and b'fast) for a quick ' in and out' or 'one nighter' ...no pun intended.... The reception staff were helpful, informative and friendly. From other reviews...the top floor/s, 5th, seems to be for travellers...the others may have a different clientele...(hence the teeny lift???).

Room Tip: Top floor - keeps away the street noises/activities!
