Very helpful staff, easy registration, they give you clean linen and small towel free of charge. You also get a travel card, and can rent a converter and a lockable section in the fridge in the kitchen for only a deposit which you get back when you return things. Was quiet, safe, and SUPER CLEAN! Surprisingly clean for hostel. Great value for money, we were very pleased. Also good location very close to train station and lake.

I only stayed here for one night but the man on reception was so helpful. He gave us all of the information that we needed. There was lots of communal areas. The showers had separate changing areas behind locked doors. You could not enter the hostel without a key card. The hostel was centrally located and we were given a card for local transport. It was also very clean, a very enjoyable stay.
The only negative thing to say was that the bin men came at just after 5am, and it became very hot in the room despite there being a fan at night.

City Hostel Geneva is the first hostel I've ever stayed in and it set the bar really high for hostels. The price is quite steep for a hostel (I paid 35CHF/night) but considering that it's in Switzerland, it's the best you can get. The hostel provides you with a transport card which allows you to take any form of public transportation (under the unireso network) for free. The card is really handy if you want to take the taxi boats along the lake, or if you want to visit places like the UNOG or the Switzerland-France border. Transport in Europe can be really expensive.

The hostel itself is well maintained, they give you clean sheets on your first night, and provide you with a towel for your baths (albeit a tiny facial towel, bigger towels can be rented from the front desk). Day lockers are provided for free, which is great if you're arriving earlier than the stipulated check-in time, just remember to bring your own lock. Laundry facilities are available at the basement, but it is a little pricey (again, it's Switzerland). Computers are readily available at the lobby, but they are not free. Just bring your laptop or access the internet with your phone, free wifi is provided throughout the duration of stay.

Rooms are ok, I stayed in a twin sharing room with my friend. It was a little bit smaller than expected and we had a tiny problem opening both our suitcases at the same time, but it wasn't a big deal, we just took turns. The shared toilets were clean and well-maintained. They provide sanitizers for you to clean the toilet seats so don't be afraid of contracting any weird diseases.

There is a gift shop at the check-in counter that sells swiss army knives and other souvenirs at reasonable prices (lower than the souvenir shops outside). Overall, the hostel was a great value for money in a city that is so expensive. I would stay here again if I had the chance to go back to Geneva.

Not a bad hostel but the reception is quite ignorant. They close the kitchen at 11pm and I was not allowed to access my previously prepared food at 11:05. I asked the reception to let me in for a moment just to pick my stuff from the table but they said no. I had to go to sleep really hungry :(

Location was not too bad, close to the train station and a bit of a walk to the old town area with supermarkets and bars etc nearby. The dorm had bunk beds and free wifi was available in the room. We didn’t like the fact that the fridge had individual lockers inside it to store food and you had to pay a large money deposit for the key. We did not have enough cash left for this deposit and did not want to draw the money out as we didn’t want any Swiss Francs left so this was really inconvenient. Also, the sheets we were given did not include a duvet cover so we had to use the bare duvet left in the dorm which is not very hygienic. Otherwise, the hostel was very nice and clean. Very expensive for what you get but that just seems to be what Switzerland is like.

Stayed here for 2 nights in 3 person dorm while sightseeing in Geneva. Advantages: Hostel is modern and spotless almost to point of being more like a hospital than a hostel. Very clean and safe place to be, kitchen equipped with secure lockers to store food. Can leave your bags in lockers after checking out. Showers are fantastically powerful. Staff quick to help. Very convenient, 5 min walk from train station / centre of town, supermarkets etc close by. Disadvantages: as above comment spotless almost like a hospital so not the kind of place if you like your hostels rough and ready or even with some character: I could have been in any city in the world looking around the hostel which is fine if that's what you want, quite expensive for what you get even though I know Geneva is in general an expensive place: I paid 27 euro for dorm which seems a bit pricy.

The cleanest hostel I've stayed at everywhere was spotless. The room I stayed in was good, equipped with large lockers and a sink, there was also a good number of bathroom facilities located just down the hall. The hostel has good communal areas with TV showing films and Internet room.

The location is pretty much ideal close to the train station and in town. Upon checkin you get a towel, bedding, free local transport card and a really useful town map with sights, restaurants, supermarkets, bars etc labeled on it.

The hostel is a great place to stay in Genéve.
