We booked four rooms at the Bristol on the way to a group skiing holiday. The hotel is in a great location just back form the lake and a short walking distance to the shops and restaurants of downtown Geneva.
We arrived in the rain and had to drag our bags from the busy street into the lobby dripping and cranky - no sign of a porter nor any rush by the lobby staff to assist. Once checked in the lobby staff did take over and the bags were promptly delivered to the rooms.
The rooms are fairly average - our loft was large for a European hotel and had plenty of room to stretch out. The double bed was small and soft. The cracked walls and 60's decor did not justify the CH675 cost. Only one of the two TVs in the rom worked.
The steep, narrow stairs to the bed area and the vault required to get into the bath / shower make this room totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.
As noted in other reviews, the lifts are small and slow so grow gatherings in the lobby took some organising.
Geneva is an expensive city and so are the bar and restaurant at the Bristol - even so CH22 for an Irish Coffee seems steep.
Overall this is an ok hotel in a good location.
Expect 3 star facilities and hope for 4 star service.

Room Tip: Unless the room has been renovated, the loft suites are not worth the price.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to post your review and to rate us.
We take all feedback seriously, and sincerely regret that we did not meet your expectations. As far as we understood, the rooms you were accommodated in are our duplex apartments on the top floor, the last ones to be refurbished next month. Quiet and bright, the new rooms combine a classic and modern decor with the greatest of comfort and facilities that fit the needs of today’s clientele.
Please feel free to contact either the Director of Sales or the Front Office Manager next time you book the Bristol Hotel in order to give us a chance to change your mind.

Kind regards from Geneva

On average, an excellent hotel. The relationship quality/price is fine. The location is perfect, just 1 minute walking to the lake. Quiet, clean and well furnished rooms. And sometihing very important. The personal is certainly very nice. It is and will be our hotel in Geneva.

This hotel was a last-minute decision and a good one. Great location within 5min walk of the center of Geneva. Parking a little difficult but we were aware of that. Valet will cost you 40 euros. Excellent room, enormous by European standards. Front desk staff could not have been nicer...in fact all hotel staff from the chambermaid to the barman are worth a mention. All actually made you feel welcome. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at this hotel in January 2014. Our room was big for European standards, and elegantly furnished. We were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms seem to have just been recently refurbished. The marble bathroom was a nice touch, too - the Molton Brown products were much appreciated. The room overlooked a private square at the back of the hotel, so was very quiet. I don't know how the rooms facing the street would be like. We had room service a few times - and the food was nice. It has a great location in Geneva - steps away from the lake. Visitors get free public transport cards, which takes the hassle out of buying tickets. We loved the bed at this hotel. Very comfortable - can easily compete with some of the famous hotel beds out there.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. The only blip we remember is that personnel seemed to start cleaning rooms as early as 9.00am, and knocked on our door when we wanted a lie in. But it was probably our fault not putting a 'do not disturb' sign out, and the cleaning staff do their job extremely well!

We would like to stay at this hotel again, if we go back to Geneva.

Stayed at this Hotel for one day during the business trip. This hotel was selected during the last hour and found to be good and ideally located. The room was spacious and had required facilities. Though the Hotel had few more other facilities, I could not enjoy the benefits due to availability of time. I was staying in 705, and, not that tall as others, but still two / three times was hitting the sloping roof of the room. Nevertheless, it’s worth coming back once again considering the location of the hotel, the comfort and the friendly staff.

Room Tip: Front side of the Hotel would be better

I stayed at Hotel Bristol for four nights, with my family, over Christmas.
Before arriving, the hotel was very helpful, answering questions promptly via email.
The location of the hotel is perfect: you take a free train from the airport to Gare Cornavin and then make a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We were checked in by Virginie, who was very warm and gave us an upgrade to a very comfortable, spacious and clean superior room (room 409) which had a great view to the left out the window of the lake and mountains. It's the kind of hotel room you enjoy spending time in; super relaxing.
Throughout our stay, Virginie continued to look after us very warmly and nothing was ever too much trouble - even when we realised we had brought our iPad charger, not an iPhone5 charger, Virginie arranged for the hotel to source the correct charger so we could charge our iphones.
Aside from such excellent service, the hotel is a minute's walk away from the tiny bus station which helped us easily visit Chamonix and also right on the edge of the lake, meaning it was easy to eat often (breakfast and dinner) at the charming Buvette des Bains at the Bains des Paquis.
The hotel has a jacuzzi and steam room which were peaceful to use and we especially enjoyed walking down the paintings-draped staircase in the hotel which oozes old world grandeur.
Overall, thanks to the hotel's location and comforts, plus the hospitality of Virginie and her colleagues, we spent a fantastic Christmas in Geneva.

Stayed at Hotel Bristol from 12/26-12/30. Was pleasantly surprised by the front desk service, we arrived after a long flight about 5-6 hrs before check in time, jet lagged and tired we went to the hotel to store our luggage, we were offered to check in early ,this was totally unexpected. Of course we accepted , got a little rest and refreshed ,enjoyed the rest of the day doing the city tour.
This is classified as a 4 star hotel but it will always be 5 star to me. Location is perfect for foot exploration of the old town.
