“Excellent location”
Reviewed 2 September 2014

We travelled with our children (ages 6 and 8) and grandmother (age 78) to Geneva in August 2014. This hotel is very near the train station and very close to Lake Geneva waterfront (Jet d'Eau, shopping, restaurants). The staff were very helpful and made several good restaurant suggestions for us. The breakfast (hot and cold items) was exceptional as was the harpist playing during our breakfast. Rooms were typical size for the city and very clean. A good location for families.

This hotel is superb.
Right by the lake not an actual lake view but a side one and location is great for the station and buses and many places to eat very close by.
The main attractions are only just across the bridge to the old town.
Geneva is expensive , but as long as you understand this it's fine.
The room we had was excellent.the staff very friendly , effeicnet and helpfull.

We would definatley return and stay again when we visit Geneva again

Room Tip: Side view to lake

Hotel Bristol is an excellent hotel to stay for business trips. Is very well situated, very calm, with gentle employees, an exception in Geneva. It has a small bar, for those who want to relax and drink a coffee which is very calm.

Room Tip: To choose intermediate rooms in terms of costs

I booked this hotel because, for the "rating" and the location, the price seemed surprisingly reasonable for the one night we needed. The reality of the situation bore this out - the room was large and well appointed with a particularly large bedroom, the service was good with the extra travel cot we requested for our baby provided promptly, and the location is good for central Geneva. The hotel itself is slightly dated but for a night or two in the city it is perfectly adequate. My one criticism is of the parking arrangements - I had thought that parking was provided (at a price) but it seems that the only parking available was the short-term parking in the square behind the hotel. This meant that I had to move our car early in the morning to the multi-storey car park a few hundred yards away, which was slightly inconvenient but it did save me a lot of money versus what I thought I would have to pay.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to post your comment and for rating us.

We are very happy to learn that you were generally satisfied with your stay at the Bristol Geneva, even if we regret that we did not fulfill all your expectations.
We have only a few covered parking slots and maybe they were all occupied during your stay. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Yours Sincerely.

The photos look much better than the reality. The rooms are relatively large but not as large as the photos suggest. Our room was smelling massively of cleaning material. We had to leave the window open day and night otherwise we would have gotten massive headaches. We asked for a different room but that one was smelling the same. They are using something pretty aggressive for cleaning.

The breakfast is a absolute joke. Don't eat there you will just be very, very disappointed if not angry.

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for taking the time to rate our hotel.
We take all feedback seriously, and sincerely regret that we did not meet all your expectations. This is the first time we hear a comment about our cleaning products but we will check with the housekeeping department what happened.
Many thanks for drawing our attention onto that matter.

My wife and I stayed for the 2nd time in Hotel Bristol for a week end, from 16th to 17th of August 2014. Notwithstanding the fact that it was high season, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Junior Suite number 625, although we requested initially a garden side room. Well, you should never refuse an upgrade, so we accepted it with pleasure. The room was large, comfortable and had the largest balcony of the Hotel it seems. View on Bridge of Mont-Blanc and its noisy street, which was actually disturbing us during the night ! I heard at 3 occasions, the noise of sirens of police car or ambulance coming from this road, it was loud enough to wake me up... So, if to choose, better to ask for a room with garden/court view if you want to spend a quite night. The spa area is very nice, with a large jacuzzi, a hammam, shower and another room where you can relax with 2 sauna (1 bio, 1 normal) and 2 bed to relax with light show (pink, green, yellow, blue, quite nice). There is also a changing room with lockers, where towels are located by the way. You will be able to drink fresh water there, free of charge. Little point that was not working is shower inside the changing room, water evacuation was somehow blocked and it became very fast a kind of bathroom... I informed recpetion accordingly to send someone to repare.

So, to resume our stay, please note following points .

positive points :
---------------------
1) Upgrade in Junior Suite was really appreciated, thanks to Management.
2) Location of the Hotel is just perfect, fully in city center and just opposite Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues.
3) Spa area with jacuzzi, hammam, sauna is very relaxing and not crowded.
4) Very big balcony in Junior Suite number 625.
5) 1 complimentary bottle of water inside the room.
6) Complimentary Wifi in the room (ask for code at reception).

Points to be improved :
-------------------------------
1) Check shower water evacution in spa changing room as it was not working correctly.
2) 2 complimentary bottles of water would be much appreciated inside the room.
3) In December 2013, we ate heart of salmon during breakfast, but it disappeared this time...
4) Due to traffic, it can be noisy nights if located in a room with street view !!!
5) Tea and/or lemon water should be also offered complimentary inside the spa area.
6) Reception staff should know that locals don't have to pay the "taxe de séjour"...
7) During breakfast, I came to pick up my food but there were no more clean plates available and pan cakes plate was empty...

Well, that's it for this stay. We liked and enjoyed our stay. We also used the room service which was just perfect service this time, as we had some problems during our last stay with this point, but it seems it improved a lot !

I will soon post some photos, so you can see what I'm talking about. Enjoy your stay ;-).

Room Tip: Ask for a room in garden side if you want a quiet night !

I had a fantastic stay in the Bristol in July 2014. the hotel is excellently positioned right in the centre with everything in walking distance. There is a tram stop about 500m away, so almost everything is very easily accessible. The only downside to the location is that one cannot stop a car on the main road outside the hotel, but instead must park in a small side alley from which your car can be valet parked. I think this is a small price to pay for such a convenient location.

The real stand out feature of this hotel in my mind was the sleep quality. I was in a "superior" room and can honestly say I have never slept in a hotel bed as comfortable as the one in the Bristol. For my 4 nights at the Bristol I slept better than I have done in years. The bed / sheets combination was just perfect. I am totally used to having average-at-best nights in hotels but this was far better than at home.

My room was on the rear of the hotel, 522 I believe. It backed onto the square and was very quiet. Otherwise the room was delightfully furnished, modern TV system, free fast WiFi, tea / coffee making facilities (with Nespresso machine), safe in the room and a lovely bathroom. My stay at the Bristol was pretty much the perfect hotel experience - everything you wanted and nothing unnecessary. 10/10

Room Tip: Get a room backing onto the square at the rear of the hotel - the front of the hotel is on a busy ma...
