Wonderfully sited on the edge of Lake Geneva within a close walk to the city centre and the Old Town. Even the walk from the main train station is no more than 10min taking your time. Check-in was smooth and the receptionists always polite.
We did not bother with breakfast since there are numerous cafes around the corner. The complementary croissant, juice and coffee at the lobby was nice, although the coffee should be topped up more regularly. Fruits on level 1 were also a pleasant surprise.
Rooms are adequate with decent sound-proofing, clean and showers were also roomy with good water pressure. Wifi was reliable and fast too.
On the whole, other than the coffee having to be refilled more promptly and the hotel price (expected with this town and location), it was a good stay for business.

Room Tip: No views to expect so don't bother about high floors.

Geneva is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Hotel occupancy is always in the high 90 percentile range making it always hard to get a room, especially when there are conventions and expositions in town. Because the Hotel is low profile and does not employ flashy advertising and other public relations gimmicks, I was lucky to get one of the last rooms available at the Hotel du New Midi. Geneva is also a city that is very sensitive to historic protection, resulting in its still having small, tight alleys and streets with everything else also smallish and unchanged for centuries. I therefore expected to get a tiny room at this Hotel. The location is great, within walking distance of Lake Geneva as well as major department stores and restaurants, and, on a pleasant sunny day, you can take a walk and gasp at the riches displayed in the dozens of luxury storefronts exhibiting fashionable "Cartier," "Vacheron Constantin," "Rolex," and "Ebel" watches along with others that unfortunately disappear fast when busloads of Chinese tourists arrive.

The hotel offers a very good a la carte menu with meats, poultry, and a variety of seafood choices, and the service and quality of the food equals that of a place having one of those higher stars. At the New Midi, you also get a good night's sleep and use of their free Wi-Fi. An observant tip for my fellow travelers: because the Hotel is surrounded by streets with busy traffic, ask for a room on a higher floor if you want peace and tranquility.

The New Midi is located quite nicely in Geneva with short walking distance to the canal. The surrounding streets are not very busy and you don't really need to worry about traffic noises. If you are looking for a hotel with all facilities, gourmet restaurant etc., this is not the hotel to pick. If you on the other hand is looking for a nice hotel, decent food, excellent rooms and nice location - The New Midi should absolutely be on your list.

Room Tip: The breakfast is served on 2nd floor. Try to avoid rooms facing the breakfast hall.

Quaint (yeah that means small) rooms but elegantly appointed with nice decor throughout the hotel. The sheets were a little starchy, I can't lie but the service was fantastic and the proximity is excellent. If you want to spend under $400 per night in Geneva, this hotel is a good choice.
