Am in the museum now. Wonderful location on lake bank, with view to mountains. Building has interesting decorations, and interesting exhibits. Entrance is free so suggest you enter if in the area.

“Nice, but not more.”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

It is beautifully located and is free. Two positive things. But it did not really match my expectations. Most things are nice to see. But we were outside within half an hour. Some things are nice for the kids. But then again, it is not a must see when you are in Genève.

“Five star museum!”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

A great place to visit. It is located in a park by the lake. The park is very very beautiful and offers spectacular sights of the lake and the mountains around especially on sunny days. The museum is in an old villa close to the bank of the lake. The building itself is magnificent, they keep it in the original state with beautifully decorated walls, themed salons, fireplaces, even a fountain... If they put sme old furniture there, that would be enough for a museum. Here however you will find
historical scientific instruments from the area of meteorology, astronomy, optics (microscopes), electricity... You can watch a video about making artificial eyeballs :-). Besides the regular exposition there is always a smaller temporary exhibition.
About half of the texts besides the exponates are translated to English, the rest is in French. You can take some free booklets with english texts that explain a bit more.
Definitely a must-see if you are interested in science or if you like cute old machines. And the entrance is free so it is worth trying even if you're not sure if you will like it, you might be surprised. :-)

“Better for kids”
Reviewed 8 January 2013

We could enjoy more this museum if we had our kids with us. We think they would like it more than us. It is free to enter and you can spend your time here.

“Don't miss, even if you have been to similar elsewhere.”
Reviewed 21 November 2012

this is a lovely little find set in the middle of a park oveerlooking the lake. It houses a huge and varied selection of historical scientific instruments from baromiters and early batteries to glass eyes and causality exhibition. Both children and adults will be able to find things here to keep interest high for over an hour.
