A visit to the Old City district of Geneva should be on every visitor's list. You'll feel the difference the minute you leave modern Geneva and head up into quiet, narrow, climbing streets. I visited on a Saturday and there was a lovely leisurely, unhurried feel to the area. Lunch in one of the numerous eateries in the vicinity is recommended but pricey. The cathedral itself is very austere and plain inside but there is a story as to why that is which you'll find out when you visit. Wonderfully cooling on what was a scorching Summer's day. If you have the stamina to climb to the top of the tower it will be all worth your while for the stunning view over the city and lake.
