“If looking for things to do in quiet Geneva”

this is a small and private museum. if you are a fan of Art primitif do go here but purchase the "PAsseport Musée" as it gives you entrances to 4 other private museums and saves money. The temporary expositions are always interesting

“Beautiful Tribal Art pieces displayed well”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

A lovely, small, museum tucked away in the delightful old quarter of Geneva. Some exceptional pieces are on display from the vast collection of tribal art collected by Josef Mueller when there was little appreciation and knowledge of such work.

The displays are good and the museum, when we went there was not at all crowded.

Our visit probably lasted around 45 minutes but we could have walked round more quickly. The collection runs to about 7,000 objects of which a very small number are on display. It would obviously be worth going back each time the exhibits are changed.

“Small museum with fantastic pieces”

Beautiful pieces of art in this small ethnographic museum. If you collect or enjoy African, Oceanic or Arts of the Americas this is a must see while you are in Geneva.

“Waouw.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2013

I was amazed, it is a tiny museum. Pieces on exhibition are from a private collection (huge!). And what a collection. African, Oceania, antiques from Greece, Italy. Small pieces like statuettes, figurines incredibly beautiful and such a quality in the way of presenting them, lighting and everything...So indeed a place worth to visit. And plus it is located in the old part of Geneva.

“Masks and Magic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2012

This small museum has put together a collection of masks created by disparate cultures around the world (mostly created for magical or shamanistic use) in a manner which displays quite extraordinary and unexpected thematic connections. A very intelligent and thought-provoking effort!
