Every time we come to GVA we visit this lovely small museum in the old town (close to the Cathedral) which is a real treasure trove with superb exhibitions. It is small, cosy and always interesting. This time we viewed"Insolite Nudity". We loved it! Warmly recommended.

With the uninspired, dull and visionless Musée d'Art et d'Histoire and the fascinating Patek Philippe Museum, Musée Barbier-Mueller joins the ranks of the latter as a stellar, interesting, small and high-quality museum with wonderfully executed exhibitions. The price for Geneva standards is accessible, the team clearly loves curating the massive collection, one of the largest ethnographic collections of African, Oceanic and Asian art in the world. The latest exhibition of the Baga tribe of Guinea is superb. You can't go wrong and it is pocket-sized making it possible to spend around 45 minutes inside for a quick and learned injection of culture.

this is a small and private museum. if you are a fan of Art primitif do go here but purchase the "PAsseport Musée" as it gives you entrances to 4 other private museums and saves money. The temporary expositions are always interesting

A lovely, small, museum tucked away in the delightful old quarter of Geneva. Some exceptional pieces are on display from the vast collection of tribal art collected by Josef Mueller when there was little appreciation and knowledge of such work.

The displays are good and the museum, when we went there was not at all crowded.

Our visit probably lasted around 45 minutes but we could have walked round more quickly. The collection runs to about 7,000 objects of which a very small number are on display. It would obviously be worth going back each time the exhibits are changed.

Beautiful pieces of art in this small ethnographic museum. If you collect or enjoy African, Oceanic or Arts of the Americas this is a must see while you are in Geneva.
