Geneva hotels can be summarised as a) always booked up and b) always expensive. No mystery there. But what is odd is that just metres from the one of the world's top shopping streets, the Rue du Rhône, are many 'affordable', some quite low-rent hotels.
The Hotel Longemalle isn't one of the latter but, at 200 CHF a night for a deal, is on the OK side of affordable and the lake is just a 5-minute walk, with Tod's and Gucci etc just round the corner.
Yes,It's dated a bit, but at that price, for a business on the cheap, I'd certainly go back, as it's a 10-munite walk from the office I use, and is a better standard than the Hotel Sagitta I also go to but smaller rooms.
Free wi-fi. Mini-bar, many UK TV channels - watched the World Cup final in English. Breakfast perfectly fine. Friendly staff at reception - top marks for that.
Was on 6th floor. Air-con is separate unit plumbed into window (which I left open). Bit of noise from street in the form of World Cup revellers, early builders and street cleaners.
Sunday night in Geneva is DEAD - beware if looking for cheap, last-minute late dinner round this area.
Would stay again but not as a 'special treat'.
