“Highly recommend!”

This was larger than I thought it would be. We bought the combo ticket to include the climb to the top of the cathedral and the International Museum of the Reformation and it was well worth it. Took several hours to do all of them. The audio guide was very helpful and it was amazing to hear about the history of the cathedral and how old the ruins are.

“A must see!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

How amazing is it to stumble into this beautiful cathedral, then to walk downstairs and into the most stunning, well-preserved archeological site that dates back ages, and ages. So happy to have seen this!

“Impressive Archaeological site in Old Town Geneva”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

This is the most impressive hidden gem of Geneva: an extensive archaeological dig, right under the main Cathedral. The area is quite large, with many, clearly labeled, layers of digs, and many artifacts. You can easily spend 2-3 hours at this one site, and emerge enriched with new information. For any history buff visiting Geneva, this place belongs on the MUST VISIT list.

“Really interesting - and I'm not that into History!”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We were visiting the Cathedral and intended to just pop into the archaeological site for a quick look round. We hadn't realized how much there was to see and ended up staying a couple of hours. We used the audio guide in English and I think that without it the whole place could be quite confusing - but as long as you listen to the guide and follow the arrows then it all makes perfect sense.
I'm not that into history but I found the origins of the site and the development of the buildings over time really fascinating. Lots of information to take in but well worth a visit.

I was very much looking forward to touring this site, but overall it was disappointing. The audio tour was very confusing, and did not work so well if more than one person was standing in the same area. You move through the area, but without much direction, so you kind of jump back and forth in the time line. Everything pretty much looks the same. Go if your are really interested in archeology, otherwise skip this and just go look at the beautiful architecture outside.
