“Excellent, well-run hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

We were here for a couple of nights. This is certainly one of the best Ibis hotels we have stayed in.
Quiet rooms, furnished and decorated in the customary Ibis manner. The rooms are clean, reasonably spacious and reasonably-priced - for Geneva.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and efficient. The breakfast was excellent, although the layout of the room and the foodstuffs was somewhat unconventional.
Although it's a little out-of-town the hotel is on a main bus route, and the buses run very frequently. Ask at reception - if they don't offer it to you - for the travel pass, which can save you quite a bit of money!!

Like most of the other reviewers, I have to start with what the Ibis DOESN'T have: fitness room, wastebasket (except in bathroom), coffee maker, fridge, paper or pen, more than one electric socket, coat hook, place for a suitcase, kleenex, a list of the TV channels or program guide, safe, drawers, cupboard or closet (anything that closes), When I expressed frustration that the recommended outside fitness center (30 francs/visit) is closed on weekends, the desk replies, "but we're just a two-star hotel."
So there you have it. For a short stay, the Ibis soi-disant Nations is fine. It's in a boring neighborhood, but near enough to everything else to be convenient. The bed is unusually comfortable and the breakfast is, by Geneva standards, not a rip-off at 15 francs, although the "restaurant" seems to mostly warm up microwave dishes. The staff is friendly enough. And rooms are modern and clean. If you have valuables, you have to hide them under clothes or something. Everything is completely visible to anyone entering the room.

It is a new hotel with a friendly and multi-lingual staff. Room was clean but very basic. It lacked toiletries and the basic amenities that are considered standard fare in hotels of this class in Asia. Wifi data rate was very good. TV had an amazing selection of channels in several languages. Breakfast was very basic and is not worth the extra price. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. For those attending meetings in CICG or the UN, both are within 7-15 minutes walk. Overall, average but comfortable stay.

Accommodation is Switzerland is soooooo expensive. So was delighted to find this was good value, and very clean. From the main train station take the No. 8 bus to the hotel. Reception was very busy as they had lots of people checking in, but staff are friendly. And you could purchase good tea/coffee just off reception.

IBIS Nations is a great alternative to the unaffordable luxury hotels by the lake and the dodgy hotels in the Paquis/Cornavin area. Unlike the name would suggest it is not situated immediately by the United Nations but somewhere between Cornavin and the UN. Bus Number 8 stops right by the hotel and Number 3 isn't too far either.
Pros: The staff is very friendly and multilingual and in case you need something the response time is very good.
The hotel is modern (opened February 2012) and clean and the rooms are basic but comfortable.
The beds and pillows are comfortable as well. The TV is good and the selection of TV channels is endless.
Minor gripes: No Kleenex, just two towels for two people, one tiny waste basket, the two single beds are very close together so there is in fact no big difference to the double beds.
The mattraces shift around when you move at night.
We haven't tried the breakfast, but if the snacks were any indication as to the quality of it,
then I suggest geeting on Bus Number 3 to Petit-Saconnex for one of the most amazing, friendliest and most original bakeries of Geneva!
Bottomline: We will definitely be coming back as IBIS is the best alternative for us!
P.S. tourist tax is 5.60 SFr. per day per room.

We stayed here for a night whilst passing through Geneva on our way to Lausanne. The staff were friendly and helpful and informed us of a free 1 day transport card which came in handy. The room was clean, comfortable and modern so was everything we needed. The hotel is quite central and is 2minutes from the main train station. Worth a stay if you need something simple and good value.
