“Amazing hotel in the city center of Geneva”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

Amazing hotel in the city center of Geneva.
I was here for 1 night. It's very easy to find this hotel if you start the journey from the airport using the train. It's near to the Railway Station, 1 bus stop on the routes 25 or 1, or you can walk about 5 minutes (the 4th street from the station).
In the hotel I found pleasant staff. Everything was clean, The room was warm &comfortable.
In the morning I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast.
Thank for all management (esp. for receptionists Inna and Sara - they gave me a good advice about city and directiones to look).

Room Tip: Just ask for receptionist

I was in Geneva on business trip and this was the perfect hotel for my purposes. This was a great hotel with a warm family feel. I was ambivalent as a woman on my own about its location in the 'red light' area but I always felt safe as it is quite a regulated area. It is such a central location, near to the beautiful lake where you can go for an early morning jog or walk. It was also near the station and serviced by buses or trams anywhere. Good resturants and shopping on the doorstep. The receptionist was more helpful and knowledgable than the tourist information - and offered advice on how to get around and made sure she gave me the free travel pass to get around and back to the airport. The hotel was very clean and comfortable with excellent breakfast. The staff were very attentive and efficient. I was very impressed with their committment to their jobs ( esp the breakfast lady). I asked for a warm quiet room in the back and they gave me just that. It was private and very clean - better than photos on the web! The manager Jamal was on site to make sure all was running smoothly as was the owner who was lending a hand by sweeping the entrance! A sign of good management! I will go again and take my partner for a wonderful weekend in a beautiful romantic city. Geneva is an expensive city - and this 3 star was as good as it gets for this category, price and location. I recommend it highly.

Stayed here for two nights. We took the train from Paris to reach Geneva (Geneva CFF station) and with a little difficulty, located the hotel. If you don't speak French/German/Spanish, keep a map handy. We were guided in the right direction by a kind lady who didn't speak English.
It was a small yet clean hotel with a quick service.
The best part of this hotel is "it is a 5-10 mins walk from the famous Geneva Lake and Jet d'eau". Also, it is at a walkable distance(if its not too sunny) from the main shopping area in Geneva. One can take a quick ferry on their way back from the shopping area. After every hour, a ferry leaves from lake geneva to the nearby villages which one shouldn't skip. We visited Vyoire(a half day leisure trip) and I would recommend that place to everyone.

Breakfast spread was nice with a hot section which is a bit rare to find in Europe :) There are a lot of eateries nearby.
Overall, a nice experience.

I chose the hotel based on the reviews here and stayed just one night on a business trip. As others have said, it's clean, welcoming and the staff friendly. I was handed the public transport free pass when I checked in, which came in very handy for my return to the airport by train - especially as the station is about five minutes' walk away at most, and the airport only about another five minutes once on the train (if you arrive by plane, pick up your free transport pass at the airport).
My single room (no15) was small, with a good-sized bed that nestled in a corner and was supplied with lots of cushions as well as the pillows, meaning it could easily be used as a big sofa, using the wall as a backrest. Other than the chair at the desk there were no other seating options, but that was fine. It's not a room on the street, so I can't comment on the street noise that some others have complained about, although the drawback is a pretty grim vista of an extractor duct and flat roofing. The fan in the duct rumbled on till late and as I settled down to sleep I just told myself that I was in a cabin on a ship and that the noise was the engines. Not great, but I was tired and it didn't really bother me.
The bathroom was perfectly good, clean and functional with lots of towels, a hair drier, plenty of soap, shampoo, body lotion (little bottles, not sachets), sewing kit, showercap, nail file and all that usual stuff. No bidet, though, for those keen on such things.
Breakfast starts at 7am till 10 and offered a good selection of cheeses, cold meats, yoghurt (natural live and fruit flavoured), fresh fruit, various breads, cereals, scrambled egg and smoked streaky bacon, juices, coffee, teas, hot and cold milk etc. A decent spread, certainly. There were fresh flowers on all the tables, which was a nice touch.
Yes, you have hookers on the street corners and there's a sex shop next door, but I agree with the others who've said that it presents no problems as long as you're broad minded enough. It really shouldn't put you off staying here. Definitely recommended at this price.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street will be quieter, but ask for one with a view of the lake, Mont Blanc and...

This was the fourth time that I have stayed at the Hotel Admiral in Geneva.
Like always I had a very pleasant stay, enhanced by the excellent management and the very friendly and helpful staff.
The Admiral is a smaller 3 Star hotel in walking distance to city buses and trams, as well as the Cornavin main train station of Geneva.
Lots of small restaurants are in the neighborhood and of course the nice brewery Les Brasseures.
The United Nations, where my annual meetings are, is just 4 stops away by tram.
The lake is just down the road and major shopping is within walking distance.
Preferably take a left turn when leaving the hotel lobby, as a right turn offers a special adventure.
However, it is very low key and I have never felt uncomfortable walking through the district when I was heading for a different restaurant, during daylight or late at night.
Typically I mention one person by name, who has especially enhanced my stay away from home.
This time it was the lady at the reception, Inna, who in her friendly way started the cold and rainy days of with a pleasant smile and some nice words.
Thank you very much, hope to see you next year.

Room Tip: If you can live without the view of the street in fro t of the hotel, chose a room facing the back...
