“Don't let the 1st impression make you turn away. It's nice.”

Surrounding hoods with sex shops and sex professionals may give you the impression that the Hotel Admiral belongs into the scene but it's not. And the surroundings with sex shops and -professionals is very nice area where it felt safe and people were friendly. The Admiral itself means a very good service with free tickets for public transportation (also to the airport). Breakfast was very good and there are much more nicer restaurants near by Admiral than what you can find in the old city centre. Parking must be a problem so you should ask about before arriving. Our room was very basic without zircon (hot). Good value. Good place to stay.

Booked via work travel agency or I would have walked out. Next door to a sex shop in crummy area. no one on reception when I arrived. No working AC...tiny shower-only bathroom and wi Fi not working. When I asked to cancel I was told there was nothing they could do because our travel agency had booked. Really poor

I would recommend this hotel as apart from being at a walkable distance from the Geneva Station, the staff was really co-operative and helpful. I had a great stay at this hotel. In case if I plan to go back to Geneva will surely go for the same hotel again.

This hotel has some definite pluses and minuses but overall i would not recommend for family vacations or elderly people.
Pluses:
Great location with easy walk to the boat docks, downtown, and good restaurants.
Bed was really comfortable (although too small for my 6'3" husband)
Excellent breakfast selection with tons of choices that really surprised me
Really good service, everyone we talked to went out of their way to assist and were very friendly speaking multiple languages.
Hotel gives you free city transport passes good for buses and boats, great deal, make sure to take the boats across the lake to the fountain and into the aldstadt.

Minuses:
There is no parking at the hotel, not even somewhere to pull up and drop your bags to run intot he front desk. Parking garage on adjacent street (Rue Des Alpes) that the hotel has an agreement of 1 euro an hour with but would be difficult to drive here and check in yourself with nowhere to pull over.
You are in the red light district. Drug car across the street from the hotel, dealers and pimps on the corners, and girls in the windows. As long as you only turn left out of the hotel you honestly avoid most of it but again i would not even pull my car up in front of this hotel and chance someone taping drugs on it like they did with the BMW parked across the street, Despite this street was quiet and we felt safe there and cops were present at night,
There is one small elevator in this hotel and it fits one person. Being on the 4th floor it was a walk especially being pregnant.
The room was small with several nonworking or disfunctional components like showerhead, minifridge, etc.

Overall the location and the service made this a good experience but i would caution families and elderly guests from staying here.

Room Tip: Choose a lower floor in case the elevator goes out if you have mobility issues.

We stayed for two nights in May 2014. When we came, the petit elevator was out of order, which they promised to fix within half hour. We came a few hours later and found it working. Visitors to Geneva must avail of the free local transportation, which is provided through the hotel, by the City. The location is excellent, though the signs to it, can be confusing. Too many arrows on the street, which are of pastel shade and easily missed. Would be careful venturing out after 830 pm in this area. Even the hotel is locked though there is 24x7 open reception to let you in. The breakfast was good, though I would wish for freshly made omlette, instead of the pre made mass that was served. Fresh cut fruits were a delight. There was fan in the room, which provided white noise and some air flow, though not much. There is no air condition, which could make summers uncomfortable, especially, the neighbourhood being noisy in the night and open windows could be an issue. The restaurant nearby are average, and one needs to go further apart to old town to come up quality stuff. Would not mind staying here again, mainly due to the location.

Budget hotel that is centrally located - close to Geneva train station- 5 mins walk. Not suitable for families as it is located in the red-light district of Geneva. Prostitutes on sidewalks up till early morning of 7 am plus. The room I had is extremely small - but then at their price, don't expect much. Walls are thin. Standing shower with curtains. Nothing else. Pillows are too soft.

My schedule was delayed by a flight, which resulted in no show in my booking. I sent an email to the hotel and explained to them about my no show was owing to the flight delay and request them to change my booking to next day. However, the requested extra charge 96 CHF for the change.
I considered that it is unreasonable. Indeed, I have paid my booing already. The no show is not absolutely not my fault. I cant understand why the hotel did not allow the concession to me. It is very strict and inconsiderate. Ironically, it is the so-called service of Swiss hotel.
As such, I would never recommend this hotel to my friends and other readers.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for your review,
The reason of your anger is that you want to hold the Admiral Hotel accountable of the delay of your flight! The fault is absolutely not ours! We applied the conditions recognised worldwide in the travel industry!

If you miss a flight, the Airlines Company will not let you take the next flight for free! Especially if you are booked as it is the case with your rate at our property: A promotional prepaid rate on a non refundable, non modifiable basis.

Thank you for your understanding

Best regards
Manager
