“Great service, CLEAN, and inexpensive in Geneva!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2010

We enjoyed our stay at this nice little hotel. I travelled there with my young daughter for a mommy/daughter weekend in Geneva. The staff was friendly and helpful suggesting places to visit as the weather had turned unexpectedly cold and rainy in mid-May. (We went to Natural History Museum - free and it was also free to travel there with public transport).
The hotel was clean and bathrooms spotless (not even a sign of pink mildew which I am not shocked to see even in some other hotels - seems the Germans and Swiss have not discovered bleach to kill that stuff off, but I digress). The beds were comfy (not a given) and the rooms dark (thank goodness as my child wakes up immediately if she detects light).
We felt safe in the area despite it being in the ¨red light district¨. As a friend mentioned, the red light district in Geneva is NOT the red light district of NYC.
The breakfast buffet was lovely. Everything was fresh and there was a large selection of food.
AND we were not the only family with young children there on the weekend. I saw at least two other families (if not three) there.

We stayed at Hotel Admiral while on holiday in europe. After reading reviews about the sex shop next door i was a bit apprehensive however our stay was fantastic. The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lake was just down the road and everything was so close. And we got a free transport card for geneva which was very helpful. I always felt safe outside the hotel. The 'red light' area is in one direction and the lake, food, shopping etc is in the other direction so there is no need to pass sex shops or anything like that. We did however go into the district to do some laundry and although passed a couple of 'ladies of the night' never felt uncomfortable at all. The hotel is great and we had a very pleasant stay.

Ok this 3* hotel may not be in the most upmarket of areas[ next door to a sex shop with the odd lady of the night hanging about ] but it stands 200 yards from the lake and the same from the station AND some of the most expensive hotels in Geneva are just a few yards away !!! Do not dismiss this hotel as an option in a beautiful, but very expensive, city just because of some of the reviews. We felt 100% safe around the hotel , there is an excellent restaurant across the road and we could walk anywhere.Breakfast is second to none , the staff are very helpful and friendly and overall we were delighted with our stay . Great rate through octopustravel.com.Eating out is very expensive [ weak sterling to thank for that ] but try Chez ma cousine in Place Bourg de Four in the old town !!Great experience and value for money !!! So go and enjoy this lovely city and stay where we were made welcome.

Arriving just one hour before I needed to be at a very difficult to arrange tour 40 minutes outside of the city, I cannot put into words what an unexpected joy it was that when I came down from putting my bag in my room, the receptionist handed me a hand-written note with the trams/buses I needed to take.

In many ways, this sums up my experience at Hotel Admiral, as the price was right, it was a stones' throw from the central train station, and the staff were all more than helpful to say the least. Truth be told, I had such a positive experience, that I booked an additional night when I returned to Geneva a week later.

The room was nicely sized, and far larger than a majority of European hotels, and the room had everything I needed. The free wireless was steady and far faster than most other hotels I've stayed in, and for me, this was a necessity.

The breakfast also offered more, as there were eggs, some meats, and plenty of breads, cereals, etc.

Without question, whenever I am in Geneva again, I will be staying here.

Compared to the price level (=high) in Geneva and location this hotel is a good choice for one or two nights stay in the city - especially if you arrive by train. Around the corner there is also a parking hall. Hotel offers a ticket for public traffic services which is a good add. Buffet breakfast gives a good start for a day offering a wide variety of choices. Hotel was also very clean and the rooms have comportalbe size (but not according the US standards). There is also a free internet access in the rooms, which is a big plus.

Main shopping streets are in waking distance but not just around the corner. The lake is just a few blocks away and can be reached easily by foot.

Hotel is located in "red lights" area but it doesn't really disturb. There are also a lot of small restaurants around.

Stayed there at the end of January, 2010. Great, clean hotel in a very convenient location. About 300 yards from the Cornavin (Central) Train Station; has easy access to the Train Station, Trams, Bus and Taxis. Located within central Geneva. They serve a great breakfast with very wide selections. I would highly recommend the hotel. It is also one of the most fairly priced.

Didn't realise it when I booked it, but it is right in the red light district. No worries though, I felt safe and it was certainly in a central location to walk to the train station. The room was European small, but not too small that I couldn't function. Room clean but a bit dark - small window. Breakfast was included and was the usual stuff - coffee, cereals, cheese, rolls, fruit. I was there one night and it was absolutely fine for the moderate cost (relative to Geneva) and decently central location.
