“Well located, reasonable and well set up - good service for the money”
Reviewed 23 May 2011

This is the third consecutive year I stay in this hotel and I must say it is really doing a great job. The rooms are spacious, quiet and well equipped. The hotel is conveniently located in the center and has all the necessary services you can expect from a respectable institution. The multi-linguist personal is helpful and service oriented.
The breakfast is reasonable in size but of good quality for the products.
Their concierge is helpful and knowledgeable.
Nothing to criticised besides maybe the fact there is a very little lift (max 3 pax) and it is a slow and busy one. (so if you stay, don't get placed at the top floor, as you will wait the elevator for a while).
The restaurant area is really small and doesn't allow for big groups. it is quickly crowded.
There is no bar or restaurant, so you will have to go out for a drink or dinner.
Finally, parking doesn't appear to be an option, as in the centre of town, and each parking slot is premium.

Room Tip: stay on the 1st or second floor

Jade gets everything right. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms and bathrooms, free wifi, free public transport, great breakfasts (and cheaper than Epsom) steam iron that you can keep in your room.... and fantastic service from the friendly night porter - he actually said, 'treat this like your home.' Oh, and a quiet garden!

I always chhose Jade on my frequent trips to Geneva, and would recommend everyone else do the same.

Room Tip: Request a room on the upper floors at the back.

This was a lucky find. Geneva is crazy expensive, but the Jade was available for a great rate for my visit over Easter. It’s part of a group of 4 or 5 hotels all located in the same general area near-ish to the main train station.

Don’t expect the W but this hotel was pretty stylish and up to the level of cleanliness and order that you would expect from the Swiss. Everything was clean and the room was decorated with modern, tasteful furnishings and fittings. The room was a nice size and everything worked as promised.

Regarding the location, the Jade is located just up the street from the Starwood President Wilson hotel. A quick walk to the lake and the station. The main tourist part of Geneva is the old town which is on the other side of the lake but very accessible by one of the many pedestrian bridges. While some may see location as a problem, I took advantage by walking down Rue Rothschild to the lake to enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and Jet D’Eau to get to the Rive Gauche. One of the great benefits of the Jade’s location is the ability to walk to the UN, the botanic gardens and other gardens along the lake. It’s also quite close to a lot of bars and nightclubs located near the station.

The front desk staff was always efficient and courteous. Wake up calls came on time and check out was a breeze with no surprise charges. Note that the only thing additional to a prepaid rate is a ‘City Tax’ which for me was 3 francs per night. Wireless internet was included in the room rate (ie free if you are a hotel guest.)

Overall a good quality, inexpensive hotel for Geneva. Book with confidence if you come across a good rate.

We booked this hotel for 110EUR per night, which is great considering that a hostel in central Geneva will cost 75EUR a night. The rooms are very attractively decorated and we found the bed to be comfortable. However, when trying to get internet access at 7PM on a Saturday night we had to call the front desk four times over the period of an hour before anyone picked up. When checking out the following morning at 11AM we came down from our room to find a line - with no one attending the front desk! I would still recommend the hotel if one can reserve it for the price we did.

Beautiful room, large/clean enough for our baby to crawl around until it was time to go. The playpen was impeccable. Crib was waiting for us before we checked in. Good/safe location. Concierge was very helpful.

I spent four nights at this hotel in Geneva. The hotel is small but really clean and the rooms are of a good size. I thought that they were expensive for what they were but that is Geneva all over.

One thing I don't like - the frosted glass window into the bathroom. Not too sure what that was for to be honest.

Geneva is a lovely town although a couple of says at most would be enough in my opinion. Take care when walking around the Gare Cornavin area...we were mugged next to the Hotel de la Paix and apparently it's quite a known problem in the area.

I did like the complimentary travel card that we were given. Really handy and saved us a lot of money.

First, it's Geneva! - A town where superhigh prices were invented and they are still proud of that fact nowadays... I paid approx. CHF170 (USD170, Oct 2010) for a single room. Booking through their website seems to give you the cheapest price.
The hotel is part of the Manotel-Group, they seem to have a few hotels in the area, Jade is the lowest-rated/cheapest.

Location:
- It is about 10mins walking distance from the main train station, which is also the stop from the airport. The area itself is mixed, some red-light-bars, but Geneva seems rather quiet and safe, so I would say 'no worries' about that. However, no fancy restaurants around, the area feels a bit dead at day (and night); the 'old town' is some 20-25mins by foot away.
- The hotel itself is on a rather quite street off the main street; I was a bit worried about street noise, but you cant hear anything. If you are worried, backwards you cant hear anything FOR SURE (room 17/18/21/22 are backwards facing).

The room:
Very clean; great standard; HOWEVER: the toilet/bathroom is not separated from the room by a brick-wall, but only by milk-covered GLASS-wall; I could imagine not everyone is comfortable sitting on the toilet while being 'on full display' from the room. I guess couples married for +50year might have less of a problem... ;)

Service:
Well, thats where can you feel that its the lowest rated amongst the manotel-hotels. I would say it is 'ok' but definitely not more.
- I was waiting at the reception for a while because noone was there (there is no bell to ring or so). When someone came I told him I was waiting for 10mins and it would be great if he had left a note saying "back shortly" as I was not sure if they were 24hrs... The response I got: "It was not 10mins, it was only 5mins".
- The heating (mid October, outside 10C) was not switched on in the whole hotel and they decided NOT to tell guests upfront so that they could prepare; I 'discovered' it when I woke up at 3AM freezing, less than 15C in the room. Of course - as its only a 3-star hotel - no extra blanket in the cupboard... I told them next day and their response was: 'We have not switched heating on yet as its only mid October'. Again, no sorry, no "if you need a blanket please let us know".
- One of the shampoos was half used. I guess - it's 3 stars, not more.

Other:
- They do offer WiFi free of charge. But only as long as you are guest. Once checked out they disable your login immediately.
- Minibar prices are rippoff. A tiny 45gramm box of peanuts: CHF6, a small bag of chips: CHF6, same for a can of coke: CHF6!

Would I stay again?
Yes, it is cheap, clean, and if you are prepared facing their service, go for it! But dont forget your sleeping bag, you never know if they switch on/off the heating...
