Description: Since opening in 1999, Patara rapidly became a leading reference in Thai gastronomy and has long been one of the go-to addresses in international Geneva. This Mecca of culinary refinement is in reality the Geneva ambassador of one of the finest tables in Bangkok. It stands out for the authenticity and modernity of its cuisine, offering innovative combinations of spices, flavours and modes of preparation. The restaurant is located within the exceptional setting of the Hotel Beau-Rivage and boasts all the know-how, exclusive recipes and service philosophy of its Thai parent company. The chefs and kitchen team are sent to Geneva from Bangkok after being trained and having spent at least five years in the group's establishments. In a scrupulous concern for authenticity and freshness, ingredients are sent out twice a week from Bangkok, and are used in combination with the finest local produce. A comprehensive wine-list, selected especially for their harmonious combination with spicy dishes, rounds off a unique gastronomic experience on the banks of Lake Geneva, combining the best of East and West.

We just wanted to have a fine dinner and "ran" into this restaurant. Well, the mobile TripAdvisor app gave us a hint and the final go-ahead. The set four-course menu with two dozen specialties to go for was the thing to try: and it was really a hit. Very expensive but very special. Try it when in the area.

We have been to this restaurant several times and the food was always very authentic Thaï. Last night, February 26 we had a very disappointing dinner. The food looked good but tasted very mediocre. Too adapted to the European taste and thus not authentic Thaï anymore. :-(

Don't get me wrong, the food is good going superb. IT IS EXPENSIVE. Geneva to begin with is already expensive. So I say price-quality-of-food to value for money, there are 2 other thai food restaurants, i.e. Thai and Phucket. Phucket has a better pad-thai noodles for example.

Ambiance is nice as well. Heck, it is in the center of High end Geneva.
Again, food is good but for the price, would go somewhere else.

Forget your ordinary fare, and go to Patara for an upmarket culinary Thai experience (as can be expected, prices are upmarket too, but food is still good value for money). Refined ingredient, delicious starters, a choice of main courses out of the ordinary and friendly (though slightly overstretched) service. The only negative feature: the density of tables is very high, more reminiscent of a French bistro than of an upmarket Thai restaurant. In summer there is, of course the terrace in front.

We arrived late on a Friday evening (830pm) with no reservation but they accommodated us at a table for two, pretty much in the doorway, but we were so tired we didn't mind. We ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp (YUM) spring rolls, and a chicken entree' that we planned on sharing. The food was really good though portions are small (not typical for Asian restaurants) so we soon realized it was not enough Pad Thai to share between 2 people......it really was delicious but you need 2 orders for 2 people. The service was a little slow but if you keep after them it got better. It was pricey in the evening for the quantity you get so we talked about returning for lunch one day just to have the Pad Thai again, but did not make it back. Nice experience and atmosphere and would return again with plenty of Francs and more time to try other items on the menu.
