“Generous portions, good atmosphere and nice staff...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

A group of us had dinner at Roberto. The pleasant surprise was the refills for all of us who had pasta! The portions were generous anyways let alone a second round... I ordered Alfredo pasta with chicken. I was a little disappointed with the very light sauce that came with it. Aside from this, Staff was pleasant. The crime brûlée was very good. It is pricy a little. I would certainly go again.

“Busy Luncheon in the center of Geneva”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

On my last day visiting my son & his wife who live in Coppet, they took me to Roberto. It is one of their favorite spots in downtown Geneva.

My pasta was delicious & served hot. Our wine was reasonably priced, especially since I did not pay the bill.

We were there at the height of the busy luncheoh time. But the service was OK, done by a professional of many years.

The noise level was high but that is to be expected in such a popular restaurant.

“Good Italian in Geneva”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

This is one of my favorite Italian. Food standard is high and always constant. Love their Veal Tonnato and raspberry tart. Fish is fresh also. Very busy, so book in advance.

“Impressive history, impeccable style - but impressive attitude?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014

Visited Roberto & Cie for a first-time visit and a late Thursday dinner (21:30) with wife and a business friend of many years. Had to delay arrival by 15 mins and notified the restaurant by phone. Were told in a less-than-heartwarming tone that la cuisine would drop its spoons punctually at 22:00.
We arrived to an almost-empty restaurant and were "welcomed" by the same slightly grouchy attitude already sensed on the phone who reminded us that la cuisine would drop its ... but you've already heard that.
Everything else was sort of perfect: We chose only pasta dishes to accommodate the exhausted chef - the food was exquisite.
But somehow we never felt comfortable. Including ours, only three, soon two, tables were occupied and all were in the front, close to the door. Obviously, this made for short walking distances for the two waiters still "active". Technically, they were just fine and went along with the copper serving pans and the starched white tablecloths. But warm or even basically friendly - those were not feelings we could think of during the entire time.
The three of us remarked on this in unison only a few minutes after first sitting down. Unfortunately, the impression never went away... The evening was not a good one.
I would love to love this restaurant because everything - except the stiff prices (I am NOT a tourist and used to Swiss restaurant prices) - was theoretically lovable. The place has got style and quality worth a higher price than many others. But wait staff ought to be able to convey somehow that a guest is wanted and appreciated.
We'll probably go for another visit sometime, just to give Roberto & Cie another chance. A history dating back to 1945 by itself is not yet enough to warrant the horrendous prices; a good and warm atmosphere is the absolute must to go with it!

“Real Italian food in Geneva!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013 via mobile

Highly recommended, quite tasty, real Italian Flavor. The Service the average in Switzerland, nothing special, but the food worth it. For the first time out of Italy I got a real carpaccio. The decoration remembered me one of those movies of Al Pacino....old fashion! A bit corny I would say. Perfect for a bussines lunch. Dessert, la panacota, excellent! 5 stars in my opinion for real Italian food!
