We spent magnificent 3 weeks in Engelberg. We enjoyed it a lot, especially the beautiful apartment with its view and very good interior. We shall come again.
Alphaven is breathtaking! This was our 2nd stay here and we are planning a 3rd! Views are 2nd to none and the accommodations just what we want - clean and comfortable. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and we highly recommend Alphaven to anyone considering going to beautiful Engelberg!
We spent a weekend at Alphaven and couldn’t have asked for more! The apartment, location, service, everything was just fantastic! And last but not least, the best view in the Alps! We’ll definetely be back!
Wow what an apartment, their website shows all the amenities, views, reviews,
etc etc.But you have to go there to really appreciate the beauty of the apartment,
bathroom, bedroom, hot tub, kitchen, lounge, under floor heating, cosy decor and lighting, ample storage, great walk in wardrobe, veranda, spectacular views, watching weather change so dramatically before your eyes.We have never been to such a gorgeous area and apartment.Seeing is believing, can't wait to go back which we are doing this summer. Its a great walk to the centre of the town, say 15 minutes max,

Switzerland is a magical place - every city, town, village, etc we saw was 'life as it SHOULD be' if everything was perfect in the world. Yes, it costs a lot of money to take a vacation in the Swiss Alps - but it's worth every penny. Specifically, staying at John & Ursula's AlpHaven chalet in Engleberg was the pinnacle of our Swiss winter vacation. I wish time would have slowed down while we stayed in Apt C. Our eyes didn't know where to look: the heart-breakingly beautiful views of the valley, peaks and winter wonderland outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, or the amazing architectural design of the ceiling with it's massive wood beams, trusses and perfectly engineered joins. The warmth and character of the wood inside the chalet was awe-inspiring. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Double yes! Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the chalet was the guest book which had been signed by years and years of past guests. Universally they GUSHED over the beauty of their stay and that their number 1 priority was to some day come back. The measure of how happy these guests were with their vacation in the chalet was reflected in how thrilled they were that John & Ursula shared their home with them. Can you imagine a guest at the Ritz Hotel writing something so gracious? Probably not because the Ritz can't even approach the emotional experience one feels when they enter their AlpHaven apartment. In the guest book nobody mentioned expenses or costs - they only talked about how valuable the life experience was for them and their family while staying in AlpHaven. So please don't think about the daily/weekly cost of staying in this chalet. Just know that whatever you pay will be the best deal you've ever had.
You need to be in relatively healthy physical condition to walk up and down the mountain from the town up to Alp Haven. The whole time we were in Engleberg I don't believe we saw 1 overweight person. Everybody walked, smiled and laughed. There are no fast food joints, didn't witness much smoking, and it was obvious that physically fit people are the norm in this town. We were a LONG way from home.
We arrived with our little daughter and grandparents in alphaven. Everything was prepared and clean. The view from the appartment over the village is awesome. The owners are very friendly and we already booked for next year. Can’t wait to come back to that beautiful place .
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alphaven. We were travelling with our two children (18 months and 4.5 years) and this apartment was perfect for us. The constantly changing views of the valley as the weather came and went were breathtaking. The apartment itself was spacious and well suited to a family. The free bus into town was just a short walk away when all of us went out, and the town is within walking distance if you are moderately fit (moreso for the way back than the way in). The attractions around Engelberg are well known, but highlights included introducing our Australian children to snow and tobogganing, catching the gondolas up to the top of Mt Titlis and walking through the inside of a glacier as well as the wonderful cheese available in the Abbey. It will be a great ambition of ours to return to Alphaven and experience it all again.
