Description: In Balances restaurant, Luzern, head chef Andy Fluri creates culinary masterpieces with great success. This master chef, who has been awarded 14 points by the prestigious Gault-Millau guide, takes his guests on a flight of fancy for the taste buds, with delicacies such: as cream of parmesan soup with basil Espuma and beef fillet steak carpaccio; braised veal cheeks in a truffle jus, served with a potato and onion mash and savoy bacon; or dumplings filled with chocolate and nuts, accompanied by apple mousse with sour cream and banana ice cream. All meals are prepared with only market fresh produce and everything is produced according to the season. Guests are welcomed with historic flair, which is also in keeping with modern design and makes for a stylish establishment decorated in warm, natural tones. This extraordinary ambience is even more enhanced by the terrace, which looks directly on to the Reuss, which sets the mood not only for the romantics, but for all diners, as there is a sense of being on the Venecian Grand Canal.

It was my wife's Birthday and wanted something special. I called the Hotel Balance restaurant and they reserved a lounge table right by the window overlooking the Ruess.

Great breakfast buffet; wonderful variety and high quality for lunch and dinner; interesting mix of traditional dishes and adventurous ones, from the simple to the imaginative; always great service in a classy setting;

If you come, make reservations and see if you can request to sit at a table right on the water. You can't get much of a better view! There isn't a pedestrian way that runs by the restaurant so your views are unobstructed. The menu was a bit odd, the appetizers and entrees were not laid out in a clear manner. Maybe we're just dumb, but we had a real tough time understanding the menu and had to ask our waitress a ton of questions. The food was pretty good, however the service was pretty slow. I chalk that up to our particular waitress though, the other wait staff looked like the had a decent hustle to their step. If it weren't for the view, we'd probably rate this a 3, but the location is so good, it's definitely a 4. We'd highly recommend this place for a nice couple's night out.

We stayed at the Hotel Balances for the last 2 days of a 3 week holiday in the historic part of the town. We were upgraded to the suite which was the best room in the hotel and had a magnificent view of the lake, shops and activity. The rooms was absolutely amazing, one of the best I have ever stayed in, the spa bath was incredible, the huge mirrors made the room look so much bigger than it was and it was already large. The music in the room played our favourite tunes and we loved the effect of the 'starry night lights' all the windows open and a beautiful breeze coming into the room. The restaurant was fantastic, great service and sitting so close to the water that you could nearly feel it lapping up on your feet! I would highly recommend a stay at Hotel Balances.

Went for an anniversary meal with the wife last night (Sat 29th Sept) to Balances Restaurant. Fantastic, modern restaurant & Bar. The food was absolutely fantastic. Service was personal, professional & friendly; Some really nice touches - aperitifs on arrival

Location is stunning. Set directly on lake Lucerne. Price-wise, it's fairly typical of eating out in Switzerland. But Balances is not your typical restaurant. A truly wonderful dining experience.

Suffice to say we will return more often and not just for a special occasion
