“Charming, perfect location --> recommended!”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

This wonderful boutique-style hotel has probably opened quite recently since the rooms still seem to be brand-new. Ours was very quiet, clean, really charming and cozy. The king-size bed was comfortable with quality bed linen and soft pillows. Large flat-screen TV, iHome, Espresso coffee machine, a small fridge, free wifi. Our room also had a small balcony facing the road.

Bathrooms are not really large, but not small either. I have to agree though with some of the previous reviews: a shower door could have been handy, but probably design was a priority. Anyway, the walk-in shower is quite large and has great water pressure which makes up for this minor flaw.

The hotel is easy to reach and conveniently located, at a stone's throw from the central railway station, Chapel Bridge, Old Town, the lake and all the other major sights. Everything is within walking distance and you won't need a car to visit Lucerne. Parking spots are not that difficult to find in the neighborhood (20CHF for 24 hours) and it is more than safe. The hotel is surrounded by several shops and and a good selection of restaurants of any kind, even McD and Starbucks are really close.

We enjoyed the breakfast, excellent wide selection of cereals, fresh fruit, croissants, etc. It is extremely expensive though (30 CHF or something like that), so I suggest having breakfast somewhere else if it is not already included in your rate. In our case it was, but we had to remind the lady at the front desk since she didn't seem to care to check before charging us. As already mentioned in another review here, make sure you check on your own before having breakfast at the hotel ;-)
All in all staff were friendly and polite, but yes, probably not really as professional as you would expect in a 4 star hotel.

The room rates might look quite expensive, I agree, but Swiss standards have to be taken into account, as usually. I'd stay here again for sure, overall it was a great stay.

I would still be staying at this hotel if they moved it to Zurich. Luzern is too far!
the staff in the hotel are fantastic, the rooms are lovely, spacious and fresh and it is super close to the railway station without any of the noise, hustle or bustle!

The restaurant is always lively. You wouldn't expect this from a hotel restaurant, but the lively Tex-Mex seems to work. They can get very busy and as a hotel guest it can be frustrating t not be able to get a seat, but having stayed there so many times, you know that from the GM down, they all care and they do a great job.
If I could transport this hotel to every city I fly too, I would do and I would ake they staff with me too!

Really fantastic

The Renaissance Hotel in Lucerne is awesome. We have stayed in many hotels around Europe, and this is probably the nicest. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. Looks brand new! The location is perfect .. Easy to find and only a 5 minute walk from the train. We spoke with several different staff members over the course of our stay and all were very friendly and helpful. Free Toblerone chocolates in the lobby .. mmmm!

Only negative I can say is that the breakfast (which we did not get) was 30 Chf per person per day! We opted for Nescafé and supermarket breakfast in the room.

Overall, very highly recommend and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Lucerne!

This has been such a great hotel for us. It is very close to everything and the hotel staff is very friendly. The breakfast is out of this world and the internet connection is great. We have a junior suite and they brought in a cot for our 17 year old daughter that is very comfortable. Bathroom and shower are great and with the windows closed there is NO road noise.

Would definitely stay here again. Lucurne is such a great place to visit. Thank you Marriott!!!

I stayed at the Renaissance Luzern in March 2012 on a business trip. The hotel is very nice. Located two blocks from the wooden bridge (Lake Luzern).

A WORD OF ADVICE (I WISH I HAD KNOWN), although the hotel is located Pilatusstrasse, the entrance is on Sempacherstrasse. Since the hotel is small, and really have no visible signs as you would expect…the 15 Pilatusstrasse address does not help you much, as my GPS stated I had reached my destination which I looked around for awhile (Pilatusstrasse is a pretty busy street). So, my word of advice, use the address Sempacherstrasse 6…which is the café located next door. The entrance to the hotel is on your right, soon as you turn off Pilatusstrasse.

As mentioned that hotel is small, but very elegant. My one complaint would be the parking situation. There are only 4 spaces available for hotel guest (if you can, call ahead and ask to reserve the hotel parking space), other than that, there is a public parking located about a block or 2 away, or street parking (good luck). The room was very spacious and clean. You can not control the temp of the rooms, which was not a problem for me during the time of travel, but I could see it as a problem in the summer.
The Pacifico restaurant downstairs is a nice, Mexican restaurant. It seems to be busy every night of the week.

All in all, I was upgraded to a suite which was great. The location, rooms, and friendly staff makes the hotel great. Just an FYI, a Starbucks if located just across the river (about 2-3 blocks from the hotel), but to my surprise doesn’t open until after 8:30-9am. Yes I know I can’t believe it either. Enjoy your stay.

stayed, 2 nights in renaissance hotel, luzerne, for a business trip, perfect hotel for my requirement, every thing was perfect, from prompt and smiling check in to quick check out, rooms are very good, they up-graded me to higher floor bigger room, free wi-fi in room, all the required emenities available, very easy in reach to main train station, lake luzerne and chapel bridge, major fast food outlet are by walking distance, breakfast was very good, and include most of the varities, staff are very co-operative and well trained, just some suggestion if they provide a daily news paper, 2 bottles of water and room slippers, it will be more oerfect for the guest, otherwise it is all ok, and sure to stay again there.

The location is very good. Walking distance to the river and the famous bridge. The room is clean, but the hotel has no swimming pool. Lots of cafe and restaurants around which provide many options for food. 5 minutes to the train station.
