“Grand Hotel National is indeed Grand!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2010

Grand Hotel National was the stand out on our month long trip to Europe this fall. Elegant and luxurious with excellent service and we were upgraded to a suite sized room! Highly recommend this beautiful, comfortable and quiet hotel.

To summarize our experience - great location, amazing view, comfortable room and implacable 5-star service. Overall had a fantastic 4-day stay. I must say that attentive, pleasant and efficient staff makes it all worth it.

We found the room to be very comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Didn't find the room or bathroom to be tired or worn out at all. The complimentary drinks and fruit plate that was arranged prior to our arrival gave a really nice touch.

All our requests were accommodated super quickly and with great precision. The service really was most impressive.

Breakfast (although expensive) was fantastic. Set in a modern dining room with plenty of choices and high quality produce. We also tried one of the hotel's restaurants and were quite pleased.

During our stay (March) the pool/sauna room was pretty empty, and it was really nice to have the area to ourselves. Sauna room was small but well-maintained. One day we've booked massages, and although the massage room isn't set up as a "spa" experience, the therapist did a wonderful job.

Lucerne is not an inexpensive town and the Grand National is no exception. However, I have to say that I thought we received great value and 5 star service - we reserved a city view room, but were given a huge suite on the side that gave us a partial lake view. We were greeted with sparkling wine and juice, given a tour of the restaurant and common areas and shown to our room - a suite with sitting area, king bed and a twin cot/bed for our son. A fresh fruit tray was waiting for us and the room had slippers and robes for the three of us, along with Chopard amenities in the bathroom. They even included a full breakfast in the cost of the room. My son and husband made use of the pool, which they said was lovely. We would definitely return, and would recommend the Grand National to family and friends.

it is amazing how some Hotels carry 5* stars ... THIS HOTEL IS THE WORST OF THEM...

Their web-page looks so promising, the rooms appear there so beautiful...BUT BE WARNED... things which look good on web pages or on paper can often prove to be disappointing in reality!!!

The whole feeling of the hotel is of a 2 Star experience!

The reception desk area feels already cheap,
The Room awful (all I say is DARK BROWN CEILING!!!!)
The Bathroom so outdated that you want to run!

This HOTEL is TIERED; WORN OUT and certainly NO RECOMMENDATION!!!

Total waste of money....

The Grand Hotel National is a luxury five star hotel, originally created in 1870, combining tradition and modern comfort. Our 41 hotel rooms are individually designed in the original Empire-Style with great attention to detail. Our rooms are divided in five categories and each room has its own flair and ambience, suiting the individual taste of our ambitious guests.

On our second floor we are having three hotel rooms with brown and white elements in their ceiling, either with lake-view or city-view. Every room has a luxury and comfortable bathroom. We are having guests who are asking specifically for this hotel rooms.

Our front desk and the whole foyer as well as our hotel rooms have an elegant and stylish ambience and are made of high-quality materials: floors of Italian marble, walls covered with luxurious wallpaper, hand-woven carpets, comfortable and fine upholstered sofas and chairs.

We take every precaution to ensure a comfortable stay for our guests and so we are every time grateful for criticism. Unfortunately we received no complaints at all, so that we were not able to react (e.g. roomchange, etc.).

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel National in April 2009, as a part of our one month tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This hotel is exquisite in every sense of the word, just magical. We had a room with a view of the Lake and mountains surrounding, it was very refreshing after a long, tiring day of sightseeing to have that spectacular view. The location is just key for all things to be seen in Luzern. We could walk to restaurants and walk to many things we wanted to see, including the wonderful waterfront area, which the hotel actually was located on. If my husband and I ever make it back to the area, we will definitely try to swing to stay here, our four days were just magical, we loved Luzern, and we loved the Grand Hotel National. I would definitely reccommend! :)
