Great location on the river, about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Easy check in, room faced the alley, quiet, comfortable, with modern decor. Clean. Included breakfast was your usual continental fare...hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, cheese, deli slices, toast, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee. Reception sold the gold ticket (all inclusive trip to Mt. Pilatus) at a discounted price. Free wifi worked well in the room. Can walk to numerous sights and restaurants and with being on the river it lended well to a good run to the lake where you could run for an endless distance. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were really friendly and the room clean and adequate but I couldn't shake the feeling that this was like a school dormitory. It was fine for the price but don't set your expectations too high in terms of the shared bathrooms.

This quaint little hotel is perfectly located and priced. We have two children under 10, we trained around Europe for a month and this was by far one of our favourite places to stay. The rooms, whilst simple were very clean, the bathrooms were fantastic and the views were amazing. First impressions were a little unsure, but once we were in our room and had a chance to look around we realised we had found a gem. Perfect Location, gorgeous views.

The Tourist Hotel is about a thirty second walk from the old part of the city. I pain 77.00 Swiss Franks for a single room. This seemed expensive to me as I observed my brick wall view and bunk-bed but Luzern is an expensive town so I was glad I found. The hotel is safe and there was a great breakfast included in the price. There were also a lot of well, tourists that would come and go at all hours of the night.

Booked from tourist center at train station. Secured a room with a balcony on the river. Renovated room with great beds and plumbing. Hosts were friendly and accomodating. Parking in garage across river or a few spots behindthe hotel. (ask) Short walk to old town. Good value for the money.

From the reviews there are obviously a lot of different facets to this hotel however what we saw was only positive. There appears to be some backpackers rooms and some writers want to complain that they are not 4 star hotel class! You really get what you pay for.
We booked the garden suite at CHF 160 per night including breakfast and stayed for 9 nights. The suite consisted of a self contained kitchen with frig microwave, hot plates and coffee machine. There was a separate bedroom lounge area with TV and lounge chairs. The bathroom was a good size with modern fittings.
Breakfast was included and was taken in the large breakfast room from 0700 to 1000. Food provided consisted of cereals, yoghurts, juices, eggs, ham, fruit, cheese, bread slices and rolls. and coffee. All food was replenished by the excellent and attentive staff as needed. It would be impossible to complain about either the quantity or variety of food.
Our rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels etc provided together with coffee for the coffee machine.
On arrival one of the Chris's (there are two!) gave us detailed maps of Lucerne and discount vouchers.
The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the town and the historic bridges. The main and ancient wall to the city is just behind the hotel. The only minor annoyance I had was that the hotel phone would not let me access 0800 numbers, but there is a public phone just down the street anyway.

There are some great restaurants in Lucene but because we were self contained ate at home most nights. On the last night here we dined at MODOMIO ITALIAN RESTAURANT next door to the hotel. Food was good but the waiter somewhat inattentive. We were seriously ripped off on the wine we ordered. The menu showed 2 prices, CHF 8 or CHF 34 for a Pinot Grigio. The waiter asked if we just wanted 2 glasses and I said no we would like a bottle. When the bill came we were charged CHF 48 for a bottle. After complaining they said that CHF 34 was for a carafe!!!! I had assumed that the CHF 34 was for a bottle and felt totally ripped off by this very average restaurant. DINE SOMEWHERE ELSE IN LUCERNE!.

We booked the hotel after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor and other websites. We understood that this was primarily a hostel style accommodation, but have also seen reviews on their private units with bath, and most seem to have positive experience.
What we end up realizing is that while most of the room, like many of the ones you’ve seen in pictures on TripAdvisor, are spacious with great view to the river, there are some room that are much more inferior.
When we got to the hotel late afternoon, we were told upon checking in, that the room we reserved (private units with bath) are not available, and what was left was a unit with only private shower, but no private toilet. We were offered a slight discount (from 150fr to 125fr for the night), and since it was the last room available, we had no choice but to take the room.
The room, room 209, is a room with a shower inlet. Imagine a typical bathroom, take out the toilet, and place in a double bed and some carpeting. There’s no separate bathroom per se, just a shower stall open right into the room.
The worst part, as we found out late in the night, is that there’s no ventilation in that room at all, so once we took a shower, the whole room quickly become hot and humid (like every bathroom after a shower). This probably explains the moldy carpet smell when we first entered the room.
In addition, the room is right next to the communal bathroom and the walls are not really sound-proof.
We complained about the room with the front desk, but apparently it was too late for anything to be done. We were only staying for one night, so we basically toughed it out and got out first thing in the morning.
So if you are booking a room with private bath at this hotel, beware. Know that there’s a chance that you’ll end up sleeping in a bathroom. (Especially when they’re busy and you are checking late. This is probably the last room they give out, for obvious reason.) And if you do end up getting the room, (209, there might be others like it on other floors), complain, and complain early. I’ve later read reviews where the front desk actually ended up booking a room in some other hotel for them.
