We stayed 4 nights here during our recent 2 week holiday in Switzerland. The key selling point of this hotel is its convenience - it is located right next to the train station and walking distance to the main attractions in Lucerne. really easy as a base for excursions to Rigi and Pilatus. We asked for a room on a high floor facing away from the road after reading Tripadvisor reviews about possible noise, so street noise was not a problem for us at all.

Having said that, soundproofing is very poor as we were woken up in the early mornings by very loud chatter from hotel staff along the corridor.

Rooms are fairly big compared to the other 2/3 star hotels we stayed. Decor is dated and tired looking, made me feel a little sad when i entered. it's clean though, which is more important i suppose. The tv is really old school - but it works. The bathroom is long and narrow, so can look a little tight. The big window in the toilet allowed us to ventilate it otherwise it can get musky. Be careful which rooms you are booking - the photos showing swanky new and modern rooms are business rooms in the new wing that are more expensive.

Breakfast was excellent. Great selection of the usual breakfast fare.

Service was very good. One day both our boots were coming apart, and we asked at reception if they happened to have shoe glue or super glue. it was Christmas day and all the stores were closed so we couldn't get any. within 5 minutes, the porter arrived with glue and helped us fix our boots! i can't remember his name now but he was really nice about it.

This was the only hotel we stayed at with no free wifi, though it wasn't the cheapest. You could go find a Starbucks for free wifi access.

Easy hotel to get to if you coming by train; just out of the station and turn left.
Clean large room ( we had a triple room ) although the bathroom was a little small.
Breakfast was excellent by European standards. A bit noisy as it is right on the main road.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and within walking distance to all the tourist sites. Hotel is nice and modern and very clean. Although its near the train station, there was no noise from train station. However the walls are quite thin and we could hear noises and talking quite clearly from the other rooms. The breakfast was very simple and boring because its the same daily.
Its a pity that they don't offer free wifi. We have to pay for access or go to MacDonalds or Starbucks.
The room is but there was smell (due to poor ventilation maybe) from the toilet.
We love Lucerne !

Waldstaetterhof Swiss Quality Hotel in Lucerne, Switzerland is a 3 Star Hotel. Location of hotel is excellent, across from HB - Main Train Station and within a 5 minute walking distance to old town, shops and restaurants. Staff at the hotel are great and the rooms were clean. Breakfast buffet was impecable, with a wide selection. Overall this is an excellent hotel and the price was great as well. Look forward to returning again.

Really nice reception staff and very clean modern rooms. Quiet despite central location (next to station). Very good breakfast. They let us check in early and stored our bags the day we checked out with no fuss at all. One of the nicest hotels we stayed in on our recent trip to Switzerland.
