“Fantastic Find!”
Reviewed 1 December 2012

I have no idea how I came across finding this hotel but I am SO glad I did. To be honest, I feel this place is a hidden gem. The location is superb in the wonderful town of Luzern. Nestled right downtown and can walk everywhere from here. Great 'old school' feel of location. True as some other reviewers state, its a boutique hotel so its small and not your standard mass accommodation. But thats why we loved it. Because there only a few rooms it feels like you have the place to yourself and aren't bothered by a lot of other guests.

The views are nice and the room style is very modern and stylistically-cool. Bathroom/shower is nice. Our room had skylights (with optional adjustable shades) and we loved that. The price was very good, especially compared to the rest of Switzerland....couldn't believe it actually. They served a great breakfast just across the plaza at the neighboring Hotel Krone (same place as check-in. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Great place. Wished all hotels I stayed in were like this. Looking forward to a return visit.

Extremely new and clean hotel with very modern furnishing. Toilet is very nice and of a decent size and the toiletries provided were from L'occitane! There is also a Nespresso machine which you can make tea and coffee for free. Location is good - less than a 5-min walk from the bridge and a 10-min walk from the train station. Check-in and breakfast are at the Best Western Krone Hotel just opposite. Staff at the reception were extremely friendly and the breakfast spread was decent. For the price, i can't find a better hotel to stay at in Lucerne. Only down side is i would prefer if there was a lift on the ground floor - this only starts from the 1st floor.

We had been driving for hours and initially we found it difficult to find this hotel. We didn't believe the sat nav as it seemed to be taking us into a pedestrian area - but it was right. This hotel is very central and above a nice Italian restaurant. You have to check in to the Best Western Hotel Krone which is 50 metres away and they will also park your car (27 francs per night). The Le Stelle is a tiny boutique hotel with one or two rooms per floor. Ours was right on the top floor so be prepared for 2 flights of stairs (lift only from 1-5) It was small, modern, clean and really well designed. The bathroom was lovely, the room had a coffee machine, the bed was a bit tiny, but for one night it was perfect. The real selling point of this quaint hotel was its amazing location, right in the old town and minutes from all of Lucerne's attractions. I would definitely recommend it to a friend, it was the cheapest hotel I found aside from hostels and good value for money, even for Switzerland.

Room Tip: The 6th floor room had restricted ceiling height in the eves.

Quiet, comfortable, contemporary design rooms that are roomy with a good shower. Wonderful for the price. Central to everything but off the busy areas of the city. A short walk from the central train station. Take your time with a roller bag on the cobble stones, but that's part of the charm of winding streets and plazas. The weather was great so I could open a window at night, though the nearby chiming church bell is less than charming after a while but does fade into the background. The room had a fan and a safe which was greatly appreciated. Breakfast is minimal-- boiled eggs, bread, small yogurts, diced fruit, and cold cuts, but the staff is very nice-- gracious and helpful.

Room Tip: rooms that are on upper floors and don't face the square are quieter

Well located modern wanna be sleek hotel. The rooms are tiny though equipped with all facilities, no aircon. Rooms are very clean, shampoo and toiletry is good (occitane) but they didn't replace it in three nights. Beware this is NOT a hotel for babies or disabled people as you will need to go a flight of stairs to then access the lift and rooms are really tiny. Location is excellent so is the restaurant downstairs (yet another Italian) with excellent fresh produce. Could improve choice/range for breakfast.

We did not stay at the hotel but we stumbled upon their outdoor restaurant after a long day of walking. The prices were very reasonable for Luzern and we were unexpectedly surprised how good the food was. It was excellent actually. We both had a pasta dish and it was some of the best we have had. Service was top notch too.

A brand new hotel right at the heart of Lucerne. You have to check in at the "mother" hotel, The Krone, and the hotel is in the pedestrian zone. You can, however, drive in just to drop off your luggage. The hotel will then take care of your car and park it for you at the high cost of 25 CHF...the rooms are small but modern. The bathroom, which is well equipped, including toiletries and a hairdryer is very nice but it is in fact a glass booth inside the bedroom, fine for couples but maybe a bit uncomfortable for friends as the privacy is minimal.
Breakfast, in the cafe downstairs, is excellent. There's also a very nice restaurant downstairs.
Our room faced the square which can get noisy. The double glazed windows are therefore a thoughtful addition. Be warned that the rooms are not air-conditioned but another thoughtful addition is a little fan in the room. There is also a coffee and tea making machine.
Unfortunately, access to the rooms is a bit difficult due to the fact that you have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the hotel. Once you get up that flight of stairs, however, there's an elevator to
the floors of the hotel.
Altogether it was a good experience. I wouldn't stay there for a long period of time (we stayed one night) though, because the rooms are very small and there's not much room to store anything or even to put large suitcases.
