“What an amazing walk on this old bridge”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a couple of hours here to enjoy this bridge and took so many pictures. The flowers were in full bloom and the swans just added the wonderful shots you could take. Walk around and find the cake shops they are a must :-). Also the brightly coloured fountain in one of the side streets was a good find.

“Beautiful iconic bridge of Lucerne - Amazing flowers with the wood backdrop”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

If you arrive in the morning and the weather is sunny with blue sky, then you should take your photograph from the new bridge (cars allowed). The amazing colors of the flower baskets really contrast well with the dark wooden bridge.

Walk across the lake for the fun of it. You can get off and walk across the foot bridge just to the west of it. Especially if you arrive in the afternoon, then take the photograph from the foot bridge.

To avoid the mobs of tour groups, go early in the morning or around dinner time. Tour groups leave by then,.

“Lovely walkway”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

A pedestrian bridge steeped in history, and beautifully preserved, the Kapellbrucke is a must see while in Lucerne. We tried to work out just which parts were newly rebuilt after the fire, but apart from a couple of places devoid of paintings, it was very difficult to determine. The old tower that adjoins the bridge also has an interesting history, but nowdays houses a shop at bridge level.

We struck it lucky on a fairly coolish and wet October day, and found very few other tourists around. Even the old town was almost deserted. While there's certainly quicker ways to cross the Reuss River, there's none more pleasant and enjoyable.

“Historic Bridge to join two sides of cities”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Liked: Location of the bridge, which is short walk from Lucerne Station.
Disliked: Bridge is not so lengthy and could be crowded as width is not so much
