Spent 2 nights at Hotel Mr Pickwick from 8-9 Oct. This is one of the better choice for hotel stay if you prefer to stay near the Main train station, just 5 mins walk to the hotel if you have 29" inch luggages to drag along, The other plus point it's just above Mr Pickwick pub downstairs if you enjoy to have a pint or 2 after spending a day gallivanting around Lucerne.

Nice view of the famous chapel bridge if you get a room facing the river with beautiful swans cruising up & down the river. Bed was awfully comfortable, plush and super clean. Our other couple friend had a room just next to us and both rooms had open balconies. so we could actually hop into each other balconies. We shared our bottles of wine sitting by the balcony while watching the world go by & planning the rest of Europe trip.

Checking in & out was a breeze, we booked through Booking.com which again was fast and hassle free.

Would recommend this hotel for your stay in Lucerne.

Room Tip: very close to Lucerne Train station.

Based on previous reviews, we chose this hotel for our stay in Lucerne. Very nice, helpful staff. Room extremely clean. Fantastic views, easy walk from train station and to all activities, shops and restaurants. We would stay again, highly recommended. Just wished the English breakfast on their menu was available for purchase earlier than 11:30am when they open for lunch.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on top floor.

Great location,- directly in front of the Chapel bridge with a view of Alps in the backdrop. Everything you need to see in Lucerne is just 5 minutes walk. Rooms are nice, clean, staffs are helpful. There are plenty of eateries around. We were travelling with our 4 months old son, so had to end our day quite early. But, we could enjoy the view of the lake and the bridge sitting inside the room / standing in the balcony. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with the view of Chapel bridge.

It locates the cental of the city, the famous Chapel bridge and museums are right under your nose, 5 minutes walking distance to the train station and ferry which is super convenient, shops are around you. We arrived one night earlier than we are supposed to, luckily still rooms available for us. And we enjoyed the location very much.
The rooms are pretty basic, small TV, single beds, small shower, but clean as any other swiss hotels I have been to.
The restaurant and pub on the 1st floor is quite full all time, especially the nights they play NFL or europe champion on TVs, food wasnt so great tho.
I wished they could provide breakfast, it would be much easier for travelers who are not so familar with the neighberhood.
I'd like to stay there again next time I'm around town.

Room Tip: views from the 3-5 floors are better on the 2nd.

The room is very good and the view is awesome. It´s near the train station and easy to find. Lucerne is a beautiful and expensive town. Unfortunately there´s no air conditioning in the room like most of the hotels in Switzerland and it´s very noisy at night so it´s not a quiet place to stay. There´s a pub downstairs and it´s opened till midnight. Besides, this, it´s simple ,comfortable, clean and the shower is excellent. There´s a Starbucks coffee very near the hotel and a very good italian restaurant on the street behind the hotel. Location with lots of turists and view are fantastic!

First - the pros:
- LOCATION! It's smack in the middle of Lucerne old town. The chapel bridge is directly in front of the room outside your windows. It's only a quick 5 minute walk to the train station (on the map, it looked far as you have to cross the river, but it's actually really close).
- Friendly and efficient service.

Cons:
- The room is extremely hot (no A/C), but because there is a bar directly beneath you outside, it's very noisy and difficult to keep the windows open. I also read about this issue from other reviewers, but didn't think it would be an issue for me so I went ahead and booked anyway. BIG MISTAKE.
- There are a lot of small insects in the room -- kind of gross. I'm not sure if that's the hotel's issue or they were flying in from outside, but it's a big issue.

As a result of these issues, I couldn't sleep the entire night, which is one of the key functions of a hotel room. I know Lucerne is an expensive town, but for USD200/night, this is pretty unacceptable. Also, although the tripadvisor pics make it look like there are wood floors, I can confirm that the floors are made of red linoleum.
