We absolutely LOVED staying in this quaint little hotel. The rooms are long and narrow with one bed behind the other. Very tiny - but we were only sleeping there! The bed was SO COMFORTABLE - and we had a great little view of the lake & the famous bridge. We ate at the Pub & had a delicious hamburger (although expensive - everything is in Lucerne!)
This hotel was a great value - just be prepared to check in at the pub - & for the tiny but comfortable room!

Stayed here for a night with my husband on a tour around Switzerland and we made the right choice! Rooms were very tidy and equipped with your basic needs including a hairdryer and a safe which most of the small hotels do not provide. We were given a room overlooking the lake and the beautiful snow capped mountain. The design of the room is funky considering the building is already a bit old, I particularly liked the bathroom with its modern colors. We also think their procedure is very efficient as you can just check out anytime without the hassle of passing by the reception (which in their case is the pub). No problem about the noise at all when we stayed, however, it would be nice if they would at least have an English channel in their TV, cable or some sort. Overall a pleasant stay and will definitely go back when we visit Lucerne again.

We selected this as it seemed the only relatively affordable option in downtown Lucerne, Very easy to find as it's literally steps from the Chapel Bridge. Check in was rather chaotic, as it occurred in the pub downstairs amidst drink service, darts, etc. Once that was done things became a lot more peaceful. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very large, with a lovely view over the lake and Chapel Bridge. The double bed was two singles pushed together, a common experience but particularly prohibitive of snuggling in this case.
One tip, our European power adaptor did not work here as I guess the Swiss like to be unique :-)

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel recently. As other reviewers have said, it is very convenient to the train station and the ferry wharf. In fact you can see the hotel from the station. Our room had a view over the river and historic bridge. It also had a balcony from which we could look across the lake to the alps. It was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. It was quite large and had tea/coffee facilities.

Check-in takes place at the bar of the English pub which is below the hotel. The entrance to the pub faces the river. However, the actual entrance to the hotel is at the back of the building. It is locked 24 hours a day which is why you have to check in at the pub. Once we had checked in and paid for our accommodation, the girl behind the bar gave us a strange looking key, the likes of which I have never seen before in all my travels, took us through the pub to the entrance door. Just inside the door was a demonstration lock on which she showed us how the lock system worked. We then had to unlock a door to get to the lift to take us up to our room on the 3rd floor. This is so that pub patrons can't get access to the hotel rooms.

If we return to Lucerne, we will definitely stay at the Mr Pickwick Hotel again.

The hotel is in a perfect location -- just across the bridge from the train station. The rooms overlook the river, with a beautiful view of town and the mountains. Nice room and bathroom. One of the few places we stayed in Switzerland that did NOT include breakfast. Very convenient to catch a bus to take you sightseeing or a boat for a lake cruise.

It is a nice hotel with the great location and view on the river. Very convenient to connect with transport. Just few steps from the main station.
Expensive as everything in Switzeland. There is no breakfast.
The rooms are simple.

First, let me say, I travel extensively and Lucerne is the MOST expensive city that I have ever visited. I have been on every Continent and seriously, this is the MOST expensive place ever! A cup of ! Originally, I had arranged to stay in a very expensive hotel, just around the corner from this property. My per night rate was increased dramatically, by the property, which caused me to look elsewhere. This is right one the lake, steps from the train station and famous sites, looking onto the water. It is a very European type of place with twists and turns but a great value. There is a bar below but the noise did not affect my stay. I was on the third floor. Small but cute and clean!

Room Tip: The higher up give better views but I am sure anythingwould be fine. They have elevators.
