“This is the Grand Canyon of Neuchatel”
Reviewed 31 July 2013 via mobile

I definitely recommand to visit this place. It is accessible by car or if you have more time, by train (Noiraigue) and a walk upward (count 2hours, worth the effort). In this protected wildlife area you can see a variety of flowers and if you are lucky also some animals. It offers on the noth side an impressive view from the rim of the rocky cliffs and on the south side a beautiful view on the Alps. Some moutain restaurants are operated in summer season. They are appropriate for e.g a snack or a fondue. The cooler climate up there is appreciated when the lower elevation gets too hot. Down to Noiraigue there is a nice long walk along the gorges de l'Areuse that brings you to Boudry.

“A natural site not to miss.”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

For people who like natural sites and some physical efforts combined with it, the Creux-du-Van is a unique place to go. Besides some fantastic views from the top, you will feel the way up in your bones. And you can be rewarded with some special dishes from the region (Fondue and the like) in a nice country restaurant close to the top area.

“Very spectacular”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

You can get here by hiking up a footpath called the "14 bends" which is quite strenuous but not steep, then tour the semi-circular rock formation and descend on foot by a small road to the "Ferme Robert", an old converted farm house serving amongst other things, the famous Swiss Cheese Fondue. This is a very popular excursion and the top can also be reached by car, reducing the walk to just around 10 minutes to the edge, for those non-hikers. There is also an old converted farmhouse where you park cars at the top, you can even sleep there and it has a small restaurant. A good half-day outing.

“Fantastic views”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

You can make a nice hike from Noirauge or if you are short on time or lazy to walk you can drive till the Soliat or la Grand Vy and do a short tour around the the Creux-du-Van.
You get great views (even better background when the alps are clear) and if you are lucky you can see some nice animals (Ibex).
The Grand Vy restaurant is always a good stop to get something to eat :)
Enjoy!

“most impressive limestone circle with fab views”
Reviewed 8 May 2013

We drove to the Soliat farm where we had a great meat fondue, then walked the limestone circle (no good if you have vertigo!) - the views were amazing and the wild flowers an absolute wonder. We were also lucky to see some Ibex with young and a peregrine. We later walked to the top of the hill South, to the panorama with a most magnificent view of the Alps, and a description of all the summits on a large map. A most memorable day.
