I was not impressed when we first arrived and especially not impressed as I was dragging my luggage across the wharf-dock to my room outside. But... open the door with your scan key wand and Wow... design, sparkle, and tech. Go inside and enjoy the comfort of a spa bath with a wall that opens to watch tv in the living area or look out over the lake of swans and lapping waters. Dinner was ok, breakfast was acceptable, but with all that cool ambiance why not make it unforgettable on all aspects? It would have been nicer with valet service, a better parking area, upgrade the worn docks, and the outside of the rooms. Give us more wow and the world will make a path to the only on the water hotel in Europe even if it is in Neuchatel.

This hotel is what most 'boutique hotels' strive to be. The design is amazing and the pictures on the website don't do it justice. The fixtures are top quality so nothing is broken or suffering from form over function. Huge rooms, bathtub big enough for two, privacy on the deck....delicious food in the restaurant. I don't know how many people have Neuchatel as a tourist destination, but I can honestly say it's worth going just to visit this hotel and view the mountians across the lake.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Palafitte, every detail was perfect. The view of the moon shimmering on the calm lake at night and the reflection of the sun rising in the morning was absolutely stunning.

I can honestly say that Hotel Palafitte is truly one of the most fantastic hotels that we have had the pleasure to stay in, based on the highest level of service from it's staff, the beautiful location on the lake, the wonderful restaurant and the high specification of the rooms.

The town of Neuchatel is pretty but there is not a great deal to do there. However there are lots of activities that can be arranged on and around lake Neuchatel. We took a flight over the Alps from Neuchatel airport, you can take a boat trip or go sailing, go horse riding, play golf and much more. The hotel provided us with a tourist guide and were happy to book and arrange everything for us.

We really look forward to returning to Neuchatel and to staying at the Hotel Palafitte.

My partner & I stayed here for 3 nights on our way back to UK from Grindlewald. The hotel has an unassuming approach but once inside it is extremely well appointed. We stayed in a lake view room, which actually sits on a pontoon in the lake, which was beautifully designed in a modern way. There were a myriad of technology which kept me amused for hours. The view from the balcony/terrace was great and you could, if you wanted, swim in the lake from the room. Although the food was very good, the service in the restaurant was slow and pretentious - not really in keeping with the standard otherwise set. Our biggest disappointment was the area. Neuchatel seems a fairly industrial and uninteresting place when comparted to some other areas of Switzerland.

We have stayed this July in a Lake side room at the Palafitte Neuchatel. I found it to be even above my high expectations. The room was spectacular, very modern with a spacious bathroom including great Bulgari products and Jaccuzzi bathtub, a nice comfortable bed and a huge Plasma TV. But the special plus about this place is its location on the lake with the whole room facing somehow towards the water. Even when taking a shower, the lake is in vision. And the patio with the direct lake access is just fantastic. Also, Nespresso coffee is complimentary.

The only minor disappointment was the restaurant where we had the 5 course meal. Even though the quality of the food was good, the dishes seemed a little too conventional for this extraordinary place. Also the breakfast buffet seems quite simple and lacks the certain extra! Nevertheless, because of the specularity of the place (including service), I don't deduct any points in the rating.
