Stayed here one night in a “Lake Pavilion”. Well appointed, clean, large room with wonderful views of the lake and mountains. Particularly liked the view of the lake from the Jacuzzi bath, the Nespresso coffee machine and the decorative indoor fireplace. There is direct access to the lake from the pavilion’s terrace, but we did not venture outside due to the cloud of large mosquitoes waiting just outside the door - to be expected being right on the lake.
Check-in staff welcoming and the barman especially friendly and helpful.
However the staff and food in the restaurant were a great let-down. We had to wait 10 minutes for our reserved table even though we arrived on time and the restaurant was only half full. Waiting staff were not attentive and we had to catch their eye when we wished to order. We had to request the wine list, rather than it being provided with our menus. Our first choice was not available so presumably wine list not maintained and the wine was not served until after our meal had arrived so was not at room temperature - shame for a Chateau Margaux. Meat was well cooked, but none of the food was very flavoursome. The selection of cheeses, which we expected to be a choice from the cheeseboard, was in fact a plate of 5 cheeses obviously pre-cut and kept in the fridge as the plate and cheeses were cold – not what you would expect from a 5 star establishment.
Breakfast at CHF 35.00 is expensive even for Swiss standards. We ordered breakfast in our room but had to follow-up as it did not arrive in the 30 minute window we had requested. Had to wait a further 15 minutes, so obviously our order had been forgotten.
It’s a shame that a well-appointed hotel in a lovely location is let down by poor service as this is what sticks in your mind.
