“Family food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2012 via mobile

This place is not easy to find because it's a really a restaurant... More a "cercle" where we can experience great popular atmosphere and very good family food

“Where IS it?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2012

If it had not been for a local telling us that this place was hard to find, we never would have. Even then, the address is for an autoparts store. Another building is adjacent. But if you walk to the side between them, there is a door. Although the door has no hint that is a public space, if you go in and enter a short hall there is a second door with an unobtrusive sign over it for this restaurant. Opening the door and going up one flight of stairs, there is another solid door that looks no more inviting. If you push it open anyway you see the fussball table and some eatings tables. There is NO parking close, so plan to walk about a block.
But, after having read these reviews I expected that all this hassle would be worth it. If a restaurant so completely hidden from access had these reviews, it must really be something!
I'll have to say we were disappointed. We had just come from Italy and the food was not as good as we experienced there. To add to the challenge there was NO A/C and the serving staff spoke NO English (which had not been our experience in Italy).
This restaurant survives on local custom who can find it, speak Italian and know the best dishes to order.

“Thanks to Tripadvisor. We have lived here for 5 years”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

Thanks to Tripadvisor, we visited this restaurant last night. We haver lived in Neuchatel for 5 years and there is not a restaurant I could recommend until now. Pay special attention to the other reviews that explain how to find this little gem. It is tucked away and has no advertising. You might get all the way to the front door and turn away, thinking that you must be in the wrong place. Keep going as this place is well worth the visit. The food is very modestly priced for a restaurant in Switzerland and incredibly delicious. All the tables, of which there were a lot in a relatively small space, were reserved - you must book. The italien proprietors are wonderfully friendly and when, at the end of the meal, we went to pay with a credit card (which they do not accept), we were invited to call back tomorrow to settle our bill. Enjoy :)

“Never Mind the Duct Tape”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2012

First off- Famiglia Leccese is not a relaxing night out. The cacophonous mess rings through your ears from start to finish. It's crowded and cramped in about 3 rooms. The entranceway has a foosball table that customers can pound away at. The look of the place has seen better days. The tables have well worn tack paper and the walls need a paint job badly. Honestly though, who cares! The food is simple and done right. It ain't fancy, but the flavors are "right on." I had spaghetti with clams and my wife had their signature pizza. Both dishes were excellent. Their olive oil is authentic as well as the spices and sausage and whatnot. You can tell. Looking around I noticed the grilled things were doing brisk business. I have had their grilled octopus before at a festival and it was the best I've ever had. I'd been warned that the staff is tough and impatient with long waits for food. I didn't find this to be the case. They were all very efficient and accommodating. I will definitely return, just not on a night when I want to solace.
