Being a frequent traveller and fortunate to stay at some of the best hotels in the world, I must say my stay at The Alpina Gstaad was amazing. The hotel is well planned out, excellent friendly staff, rooms are beautiful and with all fancy amenities.
My kids just loved it and did not want to leave...We will be back for sure.

We have a home in Gstaad and so only visit the Alpina for drinks and the occasional meal. The building is spectacular as you will see from other reviews on this site and always provides a sense of occasion. Staff are attentive and charming and the hotel seems to have found a successful niche in the Saanenland. A must-see if you are in the area and are into 5-star hotels.

The Alpina in Gstaad is one of the most spectacular hotels I have visited in Switzerland.
The design id beautiful , a combination of Swiss chalet with ultra modern.
Rooms are very grand , modern and extremely comfortable
Food and service at the hotel was excellent.
Being Summer the hotel was quite but I expect buzzes with activity in the Winter ski season.
Views are beautiful looking over Gstaad and the mountains
I felt, however, drinks from the bar are a little too expensive in comparison with other 5 star hotels in Switzerland.

In all a fantastic hotel in a most scenic village.

I will definitely try to return in the Winter season.

july 17-20 deluxe suite. We have never visited Gstaad, and now it will be a regular stop when we need some summertime R&R. Deluxe suite with a balcony looking over the pool. You get the feeling the Alpina is working very hard to make this a summer destination. View from our room was beautiful looking out to the valley/mountains. Extra large bathroom, very comfortable beds. Nice fruit amenity on arrival and always plenty of water to drink. The only item I would consider is a in room Jura cappuccino machine as it sets the tone for high end self service espresso coffee drinks. The lobby is very easy going with a nice buzz and very high ceilings. Megu is perfect, sat at the sushi bar, and watched a true master work on our Omakase. He starts out quiet, but soon is happy to talk about himself, Megu here vs. NY and any local activites you might be interested in attending. The room was quiet at 8:30 but soon was a buzz with plenty of diners. We found the "Capitan" to be a bit like a celebrity, not looking you in the eye when he speaks and moving through the room with to much flair. Perhaps we are not locals, or celebs but I would shut that down and let the waiters do the talking. We enjoyed a few meals on the patio and all the food was prepared very well. Caviar portions were very good, wine service for BYOB was excellent. My wife and I took the Hammam package and enjoyed the change of pace. The two therapists were very good and seemed to enjoy our jokes (small panites for men). Gym is current and provides a very good workout. I never had anyone else in the room when I was working out. They were able to let me in at 6:30am even though it opens at 7. Plenty of hikes and areas to visit. Children are around, but add a nice family touch. The pool is perfect at the right temperature and very good size. Don't miss the Sonnenhof a short ride from the hotel, as the food and location are excellent. The Alpina is a world class property and will only get better over time.

Fantastic, restful, luxurious weekend at the Alpina Gstaad. This hotel is beautifully designed and decorated with many interesting art pieces and unique fabulous furniture throughout. They have the balance of quirkiness and innovation just right, and sheer comfort to die for. From the wonderful welcome you receive on arrival, you know that you are going to be treated as special valued guests. The front of house reception, concierge, valet and housekeeping are exceptional and work together in perfect synchronisation.
The Spa was excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities and treatments, and were truly pampered by very friendly and professional staff. The peacefulness of the Spa was somewhat spoiled by the inobservance of Spa rules by some guests, who allowed their children to be left unattended in areas where guests were relaxing (the staff could be more professional in ensuring that spa rules are observed). The Ginger tea was a great hit!!!!
One surprising element, was to see the cushions for the pool side loungers being wheeled (twice) thorough the middle of the breakfast service. The frenetic antics of the waiting staff rushing about did impinge on the experience and made mealtimes less relaxing than expected. The Maître D was very friendly to all the customers and paid them a lot of attention, he needs to pay more attention to orchestrating his staff into the finely tuned “ballet” they should be - where guests needs are anticipated and attended to seamlessly and unobtrusively – which would match and complement the talented wonderful role played by the staff front of house.
Overall - a truly wonderful experience and one we look forward to sampling again!
